South Huron hockey awards
A number of area hockey Galloway Dairy Farms trophy as
players received special awards
at the recent banquet of the South
Huron intermediate hockey
league.
Fred Campbell of the Hensall
Combines was the recipient of the
Royal Bank of Canada trophy as
the most improved player during
the regular season.
The most valuable player
trophy presented by the Crediton
hockey club was won by John
Hayter, the goalie of the Shipka
Colonials.
The Leroy Wacker trophy to the
rookie of the year was won by
Walter Lantz of the Centralia
College Saints and Ron Funston
of the Huron Park Marauders
won the Pat O'Brien trophy for
winning the most first star
awards.
The second and third star
awards went to Ernie Schlegel of
the North Middlesex Merchants
and Dave Burch of the Thedford
Browns.
The Watford Generals received
the Derry Boyle trophy as league
champions and Alex Hastie of the
Watford team won the Bob
Galloway trophy as the most
valuable player and the Bayview
Tavern trophy as the league's top
scorer in the playoffs.
The Dashwood Industries going
to the best goaltender was shared
by Gord Hollingsworth and Roger
Trotechad of Watford.
The Watford club also won the
