Final meeting
for Zurich 11
By G. Schwartzentruber
Our final meeting of "Clothes
fox Leisure" was held on Wed-
nesday, April 13.
The leaders checked our books
to be sure that they were up
to date. All we have to do now is
write up a club story.
Each girls has to do one and it
has to be at least a half page in
length, stating our comments
(good or bad) on the club. The
Home Economist takes all of our
comments into consideration.
We will have to get together
once more to practise our skit for
Achievement Day. The meeting
was over by 8:30 p.m.
May convention to be held in
Chatham which the president and
Mrs. Verberne plan to attend.
The. meeting was then ad-
journed and closed with prayer
led by the president.
Then followed a lengthy but
interesting report by Mrs.
Josephine Deitrich on her recent
tour to the Holy Land.
We were also entertained by
some little ladies with some very
fine step and clog dancing and
piano solos. Lunch was served
and enjoyed by all.

Mennonite Ladies host Retreat
Friday and Saturday forenoon
and' afternoon was a time of
sharing when the ladies of the
W.M.S.A. were host to groups
from the Tavistock, Hanover,
Listowel and Elora churches.
Mrs. Alvin Yutzi and assistants
Mrs. Elsie Kuepferand Mrs. Reta
Wagler from the Tavistock area
very ably lead the theme "Teach
us to pray." Guidelines to prayer
and meditation were discussed
by the leader as well as par-
ticipation by the groups.
Public prayer is good, as well
as in group, because we need
fellowship and sharing but,
special emphasis was made that
in our busy life we must make
time to pray. Also saying time
and place are insignificant,
hence, short and simple prayer
too can be meaningful even while
at our duties.
Vital aspects will be con-
fession, inner listening, specific
requests and intercession.
Guest Speaker for Lutheran Church Women
Breaking of bread was a final
and meaningful experience
together as we shared with our
guests at this retreat.
The Lutheran Church Women
held their regular meeting with
45 members and guests present.
Miss Karen Steinbach played
three selections on the piano.
Mrs. T. Steinbach, Mrs. V.
Dinnin and Mrs. G. Fleischauer
led in devotions and introduced
the guest speaker Miss Elaine
Townshend.
Miss Townshend chose as her
topic Alpha Huron emphasizing
that people and handicapped
people, have much the same
social and emotional needs.
One of the goals of Alpha Huron
is to make people aware of the
needs of the permanently han-
dicapped, the temporary han-
dicapped and the elderly. Par-
ticularly in the area of new
construction of Public Building
entrances, sidewalks,
washrooms an telephones.
Pastor Blackwell and the
confirmation class also had the
priviledge to listen to Miss
Townshend's address. A light
lunch was served followed by a
short business meeting.
