spent the weekend with her
grandmother, Mrs. Glenn Bell,
Rev, W.D. Jarvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Sunday speaking on
the theme "Peace". Miss Brenda
Pepper led the choir in the music.
Rev. Jarvis who has accepted a
call to St. Andrew's Tillsonburg
and St. Andrew's Windham
Center will be preaching his
farewell sermon on Sunday April
24.
Edgar Munn is a patient in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
where he is receiving treatment.
Mr, & Mrs. Wilmer McGregor
returned to their home at Sault
Ste. Marie after visiting with the
former's mother, Mrs. Wm.
McGregor, at Kippen and with
Mr. & Mrs. Edgar McClinchey,
Mr, & Mrs. Leslie Adams of
Exeter were recent visitors with
Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett,
Mr. John Henderson has
returned from a four-week trip to
Australia. He spent most of the
time in Adelaide and Sydney, but
drove over 4,000 miles in the four
weeks seeing many interesting
spots.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Flaxbard of
Zurich visited with the latter's
parents, Mr, & Mrs. Sam Oesch
on Friday evening. Mr. & Mrs.
Ken Glavin, Anthony and Lisa
visited on Sunday. Anthony and
Lisa are great-grandchildren of
Mr. & Mrs. Oesch.
Mr. Howard Scane has
returned home after being a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London for the past week.
Mrs. Windover has returned
from a 10 day trip in Scarborough
where she was the guest of Mr. &
Mrs. Ivan Nielson.
U.C.W. hears Easter message
The president, Mrs. Dorothy
Parker, presided for the Easter
meeting of the U.C.W. of
Chiselhurst United Church
Tuesday and opened the meeting
with a poem "Show Us Lord".
Mrs. Vera Brintnell had charge
of the worship which was the
Easter message and entitled
"Signed or Sung". The roll call
was answered by 15 members
reading the 28th chapter of
Matthew. Mrs. Ross Riley had
charge of the Study on China and
gave a most interesting and in-
formative address from the study
book.
Donations were voted to the
Boy Scouts and to the Huron -
Perth Resource Centre in Mit-
chell. Arrangements were made
to entertain the residents at the
Blue Water Rest Home on May 17
at 7 p.m.
A Bake Sale was arranged for
April 30 to be held in the Hensall
United Church rooms if con-
venient. The meeting closed with
singing a hymn and prayer after
which a social hour was enjoyed
and refreshments served by Mrs.
Earl Kinsman and Mrs. Dick
Taylor.
United Church
The United Church service was
conducted by Rev. Don Beck on
Sunday who took as the theme of
his sermon, "A Time of Crisis".
After Easter, we acknowledge
His coming, face a crisis and gain
a conquest. Mrs. John Turkeim at
the organ, led the choir in, "Sing
Unto the Lord a New Song".
Flowers beside the pulpit were in
loving memory of the late Hugh
Alderdice. Church membership
classes will be starting on
Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m,
Bedtime Beauties
The fourth meeting of the
Bedtime Beauties opened by all'
repeating the 4H Pledge. The roll
call was, "Name the type of seam
we used in making our sleep-
wear, how we finished the seams
and the reasons for doing so. For
discussion, we discussed the
cover of our books, the topic for
Achievement Day and different
types of trim for garments. For
home assignments we are to

At the Hensall Sales Barn last
Thursday the demand was steady
but prices were only fair. The
supply consisted mainly of
heifers and steers, Fat cattle;
heifers $37.00-$38.50,top to $43.25;
steers $41.00-$42.50 top to $43.75.
feeder cattle $38.50-$43.10, Pigs;
weanlings $32.00-$42.50, chunks
$43,00-$48.50. Don't forget the big
sale this coming Saturday.
Senior Citizens
A variety of films were shown
at the Three Links Senior Citizens
meeting in Hensall on Tuesday
evening April 12. "Trail ride"
was a film about a mixed group of

white and Indian boys who
rounded up cattle in the Canadian
Foothills; "Cops", staring Buster
Keaton, provoked lots of laughs
as viewers were taken back to the
old days of silent films and old
fashioned humour; "Australia",
gave a bird's-eye view of the
great continent of Australia.
Between films, community
singing was enjoyed.
During the business session,
plans were completed to attend
the Spring Zone Rally in Dash-
wood on April 14 and con-
tributions to the Zone and U.C.O.
in Toronto were approved. The
carpet bowling equipment has
arrived and members are invited
to attend on Monday evening
April 18 to learn the game. A
committee was named to arrange
for the shuffleboard court at the
back of the hall— Perce Camp-
bell, Alf Ross, Bill Rogerson and
Roy Consitt were named. A
motion for the entertainment
committee to look after ad-'
mission dues was carried. It was
decided to arrange a bus trip in
the Fall so as not to clash with
other organizations, Hilda Payne
and Pearl Taylor were named to
arrange a trip.
Happy birthday was sung for
those with birthdays in April and
at the close of the meeting a
delicious lunch was served by
Maggie and Earl Campbell and
Ruby Bell.
Sew and Sews
The third meeting of the "Sew
and Sews" was held at Diane
Gerstenkorn's home on April 12.
The meeting opened with the 4H
