At time of writing, the Stayner Siskins led that semi-final by a 3-2 margin and the sixth game was slated for Tavistock Wednesday, The seventh, if needed, will be back in Stayner on Thursday. The Stayner team is an unknown quantity to area fans, although they are the defending OHA champions. The series with Tavistock has been unusual in that Stayner has recorded two lopsided wins on their home ice. They won by a 14-1 count in the second game and took the fifth by a 17-2 verdict. In a telephone interview with Tavistock manager Laverne Yantzi, the T -A learned that the Braves had been hurt with four players missing from their lineup due to injuries and sickness. Included in the list of the missing is their top scorer and top defenceman. While the team has been hurt, he said that Stayner is not a particularly rough team, although they are extremely fast. "I've never seen anything like it,"he commented on Tuesday. "You'll have a tussle and it's very hard to win up there,"he said when asked how he would rate the Hawks against Stayner. While he was not counting his team out, he did admit that he wasn't expecting too much in Wednesday night's game: The two lopsided defeats suffered by Tavistock have both come on Monday nights. "We're just not a Monday night hockey team, I guess," he related. Yantzi also indicated that the ice conditions at Stayner were far from ideal. While Monday night's ice was the best they've seen todatein the series, it wasn't flooded between the second and third periods. He said he didn't know why. He also noted that the Braves couldn't do anything right in Stayner, while the Siskins couldn't do anything wrong. He said the 110 mile trip also hurt his squad. Tavistock won both their home games and lost the other game in Stayner by a 6-4 count. "We were in that one right until the last few minutes when we ran into two penalties," he said. The Tavistock manager in- dicated that the crowd in Stayner have been around 600 while Tavistock have been enjoying between 700 and 800.
