A penny sale will be held with the draw to be made June 3. Mrs. Iva Reid presented the Zone Commander with a gift. The mystery prize was won by Joan Beierling. The guessing prize was won by Hilda Smale and Margaret McDonald won the attendance prize. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker returned home from Whitby where they visited with Constable Doug Wein R.C.M.P., Mrs. Wein and David who are transferring to Ottawa. Mrs. Irene Finnlayson and Mrs. Gladys Coleman returned home after attending the Grand Old Oprye at Nashville, Ten - nesse. Hensall 2 4-H Club The third meeting of the Bedtime Beauties, (Hensall 2) 4- H Club was held at the United Church on Tuesday, April 5. The meeting opened with the 4-H Pledge and the roll call, "One thing to remember when cutting and marking fabric, make sure your grain is straight." Minutes were read by Sandra Nixon and approved by Janice Campbell. We discussed the grain of material and the grain line of pattern. Mrs. Pepper and Mrs. Fuss showed us different types of stitches. The Sew and Sews" The second meeting of the Hensall 2, the "Sew and Sews, was held at the home of Diane Gerstenkorn's on April 4 . The members opened the meeting with the 4H Pledge. The girls took as their roll call to show their fabric, pattern and trim, men - BEST SKATE-A-THON PARTICIPANTS — A recent skate-a-thon at the Hensall arena raised more than $2,000 for the new community centre which is being planned. Above, arena manager Rollie Vanstone who organized the event along with his wife Marg presents cash awards to Danny Reid and Karen Shiles who collected the most money. Danny's pledges amounted to $217.35 and Karen returned $116.40. Absent when the picture was taken was Scott Ingram who collected $171.60. T -A photo UCW hold Easter Thankoffering The Easter Thank -offering meeting of Unit 4 of Hensall United Church was held on Thursday, April 7 afternoon in , the Fellowship Hall. Mrs. James McAllister presided, opening with a poem and the hymn "In the Cross of Christ I Glory". For the topic, Mrs. Rena Caldwell spoke on, "What Kind of a World are we leaving for our Children?" She quoted the biblical verse, "Suffer the little child to come unto God". Discussion followed this talk, and then Mrs. Gordon Love read an Easter poem, "An Easter Meditation." Mrs. McAllister conducted the business when twenty members answered the roll call. The financial report was given and the friendship and visitation report with eighty-two visits being made during the month. Unit 4 is responsible for flowers in the Sanctuary during the month of May. Beef bar -b -q to be held May 25. Members are asked to bring Christmas cards, used postage stamps and old eye- glasses' to the May meeting for different projects. After that the girls had a. discussion about the procedures of laying out the pattern. Mrs. Gerstenkorn demonstrated how to alter shoulders on a piece of paper and how to alter pants. The girls found this very in- teresting. District Deputy President Vice Grand Mrs, Maggie Campbell presided at the meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge on Wednesday evening in the absence of the Noble Grand Mrs.DorothyParker, Mrs. Aldeen Volland R.S.V.G. assisted Mrs. Campbell. Mrs. Mary Fisher District Deputy President of Huron District number 23 made her official visit to the Lodge. She was introduced by Mrs. Bertha MacGregor, Jr. P.N.G. and presented with a gift by Mrs. Campbell. Mrs. Margaret Consitt P.N.G. reported for the C.P.T. Com- mittee and Mrs. Maggie Camp- bell reported for the visiting Committee. Invitations were received to 'a Past Grand's meeting at Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter on May 12 and also to the District meeting April 13. Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge are celebrating their 65th an- niversary on May 11th. Banquet tickets are available from the Secretary Mrs. Leona Parke. The Rebekah Assembly Sessions in Toronto will be held at the Royal York Hotel June 19 to 23. Mrs. Margaret Consitt and Mrs. Aldeen Volland will be delegates at the District meeting at Pride of Huron Lodge April 13. Thank you notes were received, The District Deputy President Mrs. Fisher gave an interesting address on the founding of Oddfellowship, and the Golden Rule and the origin of the "Praying Hands" and how it applies to our order, Mrs. Maggie Campbell thanked Mrs. Fisher. Mrs. Bernice Ford, Exeter brought greetings from Pride of Huron Lodge. Mrs. Olga Chipchase spoke on the "Brother's Evening" they at- tended at Parkhill. Following a penny sale refresh- ments were served and a social hour enjoyed by all.
