Ho Hum; the day following her
104th birthday Mrs. Adella
(Bammie) Fisher spent the day
in bed resting up. She was bright
as ever, reminiscing about the
days when she pulled flax at
Dashwood. She had looked for-
ward to her birthday, enjoying
the cards as they arrived (75 in
all), , joking • with the
photographers. enjoying the

Day of rest follows 104th birthday
visitors and gifts.
Mrs. Fisher has a splendid
appetite. She still enjoys her
daily glass of wine which she
gives the credit for her long life.
There was birthday cake for all
the staff and residents of the
nursing home.

Increase in Old Age
Security. pension
Increases in the Old Age
Security pension, Guaranteed
Income Supplement and Spouse's
Allowance, effective in April
1977, were announced this week
by Health and Welfare Minister
Marc Lalonde.
Increases in Old Age Security
pension and Guaranteed Income
Supplement payments represent
the fourteenth quarterly
escalation based on the cost of
living, as provided for in the Old
Age Security Act.
The new monthly total at the
single rate for. persons receiving
both the basic Old Age Security
pension and maximum
Guaranteed Income Supplement
will be $244.08.
For a married couple, both
pensioners, the combination of
the basic pension and maximum
supplement will provide a
payment of $465.62 for the couple
monthly.
The basic Old Age Security
pension will rise in April to
$143.46 from the present $141.34.
The Guaranteed Income
Supplement is paid to pensioners
whose income apart from the
Old Age Security pension, is
limited.amount
The ofthe

supplement varies in relation to
the amount of income.
The maximum Guaranteed
Income Supplement for a single
person, or amarried
person
whose spouse is not a pensioner
and is not receiving a Spouse's
Allowance, will go up in April to
$100.62 from its current $99.13.
The maximum supplement for a
married couple, both pen-
sioners, will increase to $89.35
each from $88.03. Added to the
basic pension, this will give each
married pensioner $232.81
monthly, or a total of $465.62 for
the couple.
The Spouse's Allowance is paid
to persons between 60 and 65
years of age who are married to
Old Age Security pensioners and
meet residence requirements.
Entitlement to a Spouse's
Allowance, and amount paid, is
based on yearly income.
The maximum Spouse's
Allowance will increase to $232.81
from $229.37. The maximum
Spouse's Allowance is made up of
an amount equivalent to the basic
Old Age Security pension and the
maximum Guaranteed Income
Supplement at the married rate.

During the meeting, it was
reported that the bus trip to the
Ice Capades was enjoyed by all
who attended. Plans are now
underway for the Easter Shut-in
Visits and the Spring Rummage
Sale. The Kinettes . will be
preparing the meal for the
Kinsman's Elimination Draw on
April 7 and that same night will
be having an informal card party
Five members will be attending
the Kinette Interclub in Wingham
on April 13.
Following the business
portion
of the .meeting, Karen showed a
slide presentation of her travels
to Rio, Hong Kong and Tokyo and
served a delicious lunch.

consisted mainly of heifers and
steers; prices were higher and
demand was active. Steers;
$40.00-$43.75, top to $44.00; heifers
$37.50-$42.50, top to $44.20. Pigs;
weanlings, $41.00-$51.00, feeders

Mrs. Glen Restemayer has
returned home from University
Hospital.
Mrs. Ken McCrae is a patient
at St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
where she underwent surgery.
Sharon Rader and Bill Bennett,
London, were Saturday evening
guests with Mr. & Mrs. Irvin
Rader.
Edwin McLelland, St.
Catharines, visited Saturday with.
his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Earl
Guenther. Mr. McLelland
graduates this year in medicine
from the University of Western
Ontario and will spend the next
two years in the hospitals in
London.
Mr. & Mrs. Hubert Miller, Lisa
and Vicki and Nancy Underwood
of Exeter motored to Buffalo,
Friday, where Vicki and Nancy
auditioned with "Ice Follies".
A family gathering was held
Sunday at the home of Mr. & Mrs.
Reinhold Miller on the occasion
of Mrs. Miller's approaching 79th
birthday.
Present for the occasion were
Mr. & Mrs. Harold Maine, Kit-
chener; Mr. & Mrs. Colin Hindley
and family, London, and Mr. &
Mrs. Hubert Miller and family.
Miss Lisa Miller is spending a
few days this week with her aunt,
Mrs. Marie Brintnell, Baden.
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Stormes and
family, St. Thomas, were
Saturday visitors with Mr. & Mrs.
Mervyn Tiema'n.
