Mr. & Mrs. W. Aberhart of
Sarnia were at their village home
for the weekend,
The Dr. Bill Tillmann's of
London were at their village
cottage for the weekend.
Mr & Mrs. Rob Irwin and
Robbie, London, visited his
parents and family, Mr. & Mrs.
E.W. Erickson, Andrew, Luanne
and Lydia on Sunday.
Glad to see Mr. & Mrs. Paul
West back from their holiday in
Florida and also Mr. & Mrs.
Floyd. Diemert, safely home
after holidaying in the sunny
south.
Mr. & Mrs. W. D. Armstrong
and Mrs. Ruth Talbot attended
the Review Day, Thursday,
March 10 at the Agricultural
College at Ridgetown where the
former§ son, James Armstrong is
a student.
Mrs. Diane Grime of Guelph
spent a day last week with her
mother, Mrs. Bessie Hulls.
Weekend visitors with Mrs. Hulls
were her son-in-law, daughter
and grandson, Mr. & Mrs. Stan
Burditt and Jeffrey of Wood-
stock.
Milvena Erickson visited last
Tuesday with her sister, Norma,
Mrs. Gordon Stewart at RR 2,
Ripley.
Mr. & Mrs. Ed Oddleifson have
returned from an enjoyable three
week vacation in Hawaii, San
Francisco and Florida.
Mr. & Mrs. Bert Dunn, Rus-
selldale visited his parents Mr,
& Mrs. Bert Dunn Sr., his
brother-in-law and sister, Mr. &
Mrs. John Lindsay, during the
weekend on their return from a
six week holiday in Dunedin,
Florida.
Mr. & Mrs. Ed Florian and
Dennis of Clinton, spent Sunday
with her sister, Mrs. Berthena
Hammond.
Miss Catharine Ann Westlake,
Toronto, spent the weekend with
her family, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd A.
Westlake and Paul. Visitors
Sunday with the Westlakes were
Mr. & Mrs. Art Edwards of
Kitchener.
Happy to see Dr. Rob and Mrs.
Hunter back with us after the
extended holiday. The Hunter's
left their village residence in
December and spent three weeks
in Toronto; one week in Kingston
and on January 15 left for
England. They visited London,
Exeter, Wells, Tewksbury,
Worcester, Oxford and back to
London. From there they toured
Norwich, Lincoln, Peterborough
and returned to London. There
they met Murial Althoff (a
Bayfield resident) and -ac-
companied her to Basingstoke for
a lovely visit with Muriel's sister,
Mrs. Hulme and her husband

F. H. Paull, in the loss of a dear
sister-in-law, Miss Carrie Dixon..
Mr. & Mrs. E.W. Erickson were
in Port Huron, Michigan, on
Sunday afternoon to pay their
last respects to the 18 year old son
of a very dear friend who died as
the result of an accident.
Soccer
Fred Gale called to let us know
that soccer registration will take
place in the Arena Saturday
morning March 19 from 10:30 till
noon. He said this is for boys aged
10 to 14 and the fee is $5.00, but
you must also bring along your
proof of age. Fred can be reached
at 482-9380 if you need any in-
formation. Even though Fred has
left our neighbourhood he has
agreed to coach our boys again
for which we say many thanks.
Trinity
Holy Communion was
celebrated in Trinity Anglican
Church, Sunday morning with the
Rector Rev. Wm. M. Bennett
officiating. Brig. Morgan Smith
read the epistle for the third
Sunday in Lent. "Walk in love, as
Christ also hath loved us". The
offering was collected by Philip D
Boulay and Frank Glaze.

Day.
Lioness
At the Lioness Dance on
Saturday night in the Community
Centre in honour of the patron
saint of Ireland St. Patrick, a
lovely Copper Craft Plaque,
donated by Alie Deelstra, was
won by Valerie Merner.
Everyone reported an enjoyable
time and a very successful
evening for the Lioness Club.
Lions
The 1977 Bayfield River Break -
Up contest sponsored by Bayfield
Lions is still going on. Lion Ken
Knights called to tell us that
tickets are still available even
though the river went out on
March 10.
He said they had taken the
clock off thestandard and had left
it sealed. It is now in a locked box
at the Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce in Bayfield and
anyone wishing to see it may do
so by going into the Bank. The
contest is being sponsored by the
Lions to help raise funds for the
needed Arena repairs.
Ladies Guild
Tuesday afternoon, March 8,
vice-president Lorna Merner
presided for the regular meeting
of Trinity Church Ladies Guild in
the absence of president Vera
Turner.
Fourteen members answered
the roll call. Secretary, Berthena
Hammond read her report which
was adopted, seconded by Ruby
Fitzsimons.
Twenty-five dollars was voted
to the Uganda Appeal.
The next meeting will be held
Tuesday afternoon, April 12, in
the Parish Hall whith Ruby
Fitzsimons as hostess.
The meeting closed with the
Benediction and Lorna Merner
served a lovely lunch. Following
adjournment the members
remained to quilt and also
returned the following day to
finish quilting the quilt.

Pople are the most important
asset in the development of
Huron County saidArchieCouper,
guest speaker, Monday night at
the Historical Society meeting.
In other business, the meeting
was reminded of the Architec-
tural Conservancy of Ontario
meeting on Thursday evening,
March 31, at 8:00 p.m. in the
Little Inn in Bayfield. Kenneth
Kelly of Heritage Canada is to be
guest speaker. Mary Shepherd
reported 22 paid up members and
Fred Clift said one more meeting
should finalize the draft copy of
the constitution for presentation
at the next meeting, Chairman
Gwen Pemberton announced that
Gordon Hill will speak at the next
•
meeting on April 11 and Ross
Middleton will speak on May 9..
She informed the meeting that
the Society has been asked to co-
operate with the Ploughing
Match committee to set up an
historical display at the Inter-
national Ploughing Match in 1978.
Fern Baker and Betty Burch,
along with convener Margaret
Clift served a cup of tea and
delicious "goodies".

Monday evening March 7, the
Bayfield 1— 4-H Club met in the
Municipal Building for their first
meeting.
Present were the leaders Ann
Chapman and Carlene Pheonix
and 15 girls. Officers were
elected as follows: Joanne
Chapman as president; Cathy
Leppington vice-president; Lori
Talbot secretary and Cheryl
Dunn, press reporter.
We discussed the topic
"Leisure Wear" and the topics
dealing with it. We closed with
our 4-H motto.
Lioness
Tuesday evening, March 8, the
hockey teams of Bayfield were
entertained to dinner and slides,
to say thanks for their efforts
during the hockey season.
A delicious turkey dinner,
complete with all the trimmings,
served by the Lioness Club,
