Albert Miller has returned home from Victoria Hospital, London. World Day of Prayer World Day of Prayer was held at Calvary United church Friday, with Mrs. Hugh Boyle, president of the U.C.W. and Mrs. Don Gaiser welcoming the ladies in dialogue. Those taking part were from St. Mary's Catholic Church, The Church of God, the United Church and the Anglican Church all of Grand Bend. Ladies of Zion Lutheran church were guests. The theme was "Love in Action". Guest soloists were Mrs. Don Weigand and Mrs. Philip Walker. The various sections were presented by ladies .of all the churches. Pastor Bruce Guy gave a very interesting talk based on the theme. Mrs. Don Gaiser and Allan and Don Beaver of the Exeter bantam hockey team and Trevor Boyle of the pee wee team accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Boyle to Fon- thill, Saturday,where they played hockey. They all spent the weekend at Niagara Falls. Flowers in the United Church and Lutheran Church were placed by members of the family of the late Homer Russel. Mr. & Mrs. George Tiernan and Mr. & Mrs. .Ken Rader, trustees and wives of Dashwood Police village attended the 68th Ontario Hydro convention at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, last week. A family gathering was held at the home of Mrs. Frieda Keller Sunday in • honor of her ap- proaching birthday. Present were Mr. & Mrs.Roger Keller and family, Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Keller and family; Mr. & Mrs. Carl Keller and family, all of London, Mr. & Mrs. Roland Gibson and family, Komoka, Mr, & Mrs. Ken Keller, Goderich, Mr. & Mrs. George Keller and family, Mr, & Mrs. Murray Keller and family, Mrs. Ruth Greb and Mr. & Mrs, Earl Keller and family. Mr. & Mrs. Keith Keller and family, London, were Saturday visitors. Women's Institute The Family and Consumer Affairs group was in charge of the March meeting of the Dash- wood Women's Institute with Mrs. Gordon Bender convener. Roll call was answered by giving a grocery shopping beef. Due to weather uncertainty the planned program was postponed to a later I date. Mrs. Ray Rader, president, dealt with the business. A letter was read from the F.W.I.O. president, Mrs. H. K. Maluske. The Conference will be held in May at Waterloo, The W.I. will canvass for the Red Cross. A. donation was made to the Senior Citizens. The ladies were reminded of the annual meeting in April and gifts for their "Secret Pals." Euchre followed with winners, high, Mrs. Letta Taylor; low, Mrs. Ray Rader; lone hands, Mrs. Mervyn Tieman. The group served lunch and two birthday cakes which were on hand for the occasion of Mrs. Letta Taylor's birthday. 4-H Club three holds meetings Dashwood 4-H girls Club 3 held their first meeting March 3 at the home of Mrs. Maxine Miller. The leaders are Mrs. Sheila Miller and Mrs. Maxine Miller. It is "Clothes for Leisure." Officers are president, Michelle Durand; vice-president, Patti Regier, secretary, rotating. Mrs. Sheila Miller discussed the club requirements, record books and projects. She also spoke on different styles, fabrics and trims for leisure wear, Pattern books were available to, look at for ideas for projects and swatches of suitable fabrics. The second meeting of Dash- . ARC Industries wood 441 girls club 2 took place Monday at the Dashwood has new teacher Citizens News, March 9, 1977 Page 9 Community Centre with 15 members present. The girls decided to call the club "The Night Owls". Topics discussed were alterations of the pattern, cutting and marking. The leaders and older members helped the younger ones start work on their garments. The next meeting is to be held Thursday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at the Community Centre. A.R.C. industries Dashwood wishes to announce. the January appointment of Miss Margaret Merner of Dashwood to her new teaching capacity of the remedial academics program. The Huron County Board of Education in co-operation with the Lambton County Board of Education sponsor this teaching position at A.R.C. Industries which allows for a very com- prehensive program to be carried out in order to meet the needs of the handicapped employee, i.e, reading skills, money management, arithmetic (etc.).
