Zurich and Mildmay closely matched
Tlie Bantams knocked Brussels
out of play by a 4-2 win and are
now tied with Mildmay for the
championship round. The "D"
Champ game will be played
Monday night at Mildmay, and
we hope it is successful for the
local` crew.
Zurich 4 Brussels 2
In the 1st period of play, Zurich
outscored Brussels 2-1 on goals
by Kerry Bedard and Mike
Haggitt. Assists went to Robert
Willert and Pat Cyr. Cousins
scored for Brussels. Then in the
2nd frame Robert Willert scored
on a lone effort. The 3rd period
0 was even with each team getting
a single.
Cousins scored for
Brussels again, and Kris Bedard
found the range for Zurich. The
game was very well played by
Zurich with excellentgoaltending
by Bob Hay and Kevin Geoffrey.
Mar. 2 Mildmay 7 Zurich 1
Despite a tired group of
players, the team had to travel up
to Mildmay, because the series is
behind and must be over to go
into O.M.H.A. play -downs. The
first period was held to a
minimum with Mildmay getting
the only goal from Kestner. Then
in the 2nd frame, Mildmay

two wins, enter quarter final
The Zurich Flyers played two
games last week to end the
regular season and boost them
into the quarter finals against
Thedford.
On March 2 Zurich faced a
challenge from Shipka defeating
them by a 2 to 0 score. The game
was a rescheduled game worth
four points.
Both Zurich goals were scored
in the second period with Rick
Schilbe and Ken Smale tucking
goals in the Shipka net. Zurich
assists went to Bob Farquhar,
Steve Haberer, Rick Schilbe and
Kevin McKinnon.
Stars of the game were Bob
Farquhar for Zurich and Steve
Schroeder for Shipka.
The Flyers final game of the
regular season was played in
Hensall against Hensall. Zurich
managed a 9 to 3 victory over the
Hensall team to finish the season
off with a flourish and advance
them into the quarter finals.
The first period of the game
was a goal -filled exciting one
with Zurich opening the scoring
at the 28 second mark of the first
Novice team
loses to
Grand Bend
The Zurich novice team put up
a valiant effort in a game against
Grand Bend last Saturday, but
they came out on the losing end of
a 3 to 0 score.
Grand Bend scored one goal in
each period of play as the Zurich
team struggled to find the target.
The playoff tournament for the
novice team will be held in
Bayfield this Saturday beginning
at 9 a.m. Goderich, Grand Bend,
Bayfield and Zurich will be
competing.

to 2 for the Flyers.
The second period was very
closely fought with Zurich
managing two goals and Hensall
one. In the third Hensall seemed
to be unable to get it together and
it cost them four goals as the
Flyers kept on the pressure.
Steve Haberer and Ron
Desjardine led the scoring on the
Zurich team pulling in three
goals each. Singles went to Glen
Overholt, Pete Postell and Rick
Schilbe.

Hensall's three goals were
scored by Fred Campbell, Al
Knight and Doug Smith with

Meriam and Dwight Consitt.
Stars of the game were Rick
Schilbe for the Flyers and Bill
Cameron for Hensall.

by Kris Bedard. The 3rd period
gave Mildmay two more tallies
for their victory.

It was a different story in this
game, when Zurich came up with
a much better game and out-
standing goal -tending by Kevin
Geoffrey. Also, Mildmay was
hampered by a 10 minute
misconduct and a game
misconduct. The game was ex-
citing all the way, with both
teams efforts foiled by goalies
until, finally at the 11:24 mark of
the 3rd period, Robert Willert
poked the winner in the Mildmay
net, assisted by Kerry Bedard
and Pat Cyr.
