Ontario Hydro
Hydro Commissioners again
demonstrated that they are a
different breed of politician
when they soundly defeated a
resolution proposing that the
commissioners be included in
municipal pension plans.
Attending as. delegates to the
Annual Meeting of the Ontario
Municipal Electric Association,
the commissioners had before
them a proposal that would have
enabled them to qualify for par-
ticipation in the pension plans
available to members of
municipal councils and
municipal employees.
Ruth K. Donohue of Sarnia was
roundly supported when she
stated, "You don't have to run if
you don't want to. You know
when you're elected there's no
pension, and there's no need to
make another run at public funds
this way". The commissioners
agreed with her and the proposal
was soundly defeated.
