BLUE WATER REST HOME
We are pleased that the
weather has settled somewhat so
that travelling is less risky for
both visitors and staff.
The Monday evening films
were shown as usual followed by
refreshments.
On Tuesday evening the 10th
anniversary of the Ladies
Auxiliary was celebrated at the
Home. The first installation
ceremony took place in the
chapel of the Home on February
8, 1967. Twenty-six members
were enrolled at the first meeting
and by the end of the year, the
Auxiliary boasted a membership
of 37.
Out of the original membership
at the end of 1976, 15 members
completed their 10 years of
service.
Of the original executive, Mrs.
Newell Geiger is still filling her
role of visitation convener. Past
presidents are Mrs. Lawrence
Regier, Mrs. Arthur Brisson and
Mrs. Neil Gingerich. From a total
of 94 roll calls recorded, Mrs. Ida
Gingerich was present for 90
meetings Miss Verda Baechler
for 84 and Mrs. Martha Blackwell
for 80. These ladies certainly
deserve special recognition,
A musical programme was
presented by the Neeb family,
Martha, Sylvia and Edward.
They favoured the audience with
several duets, vocal and piano
solos. Following the programme,
refreshments were served in-
cluding a special anniversary
cake. All visitors and members
then adjourned to the board room
for the business part of the
meeting.
On Thursday afternoon, some
of our residents attended the
movie at the Maplewoods. On
Thursday, February 24, the
movie to be shown at the regular
times afternoon and evening, will
be Romanoff and Juliet in color,
starring Peter Ustinoff.
I would like to mention that the
Ladies of Maplewoods are
planning a bazaar for St.
Patrick's Day, March 17. I hope
you will circle your calendar for
this date and I will be reminding
you in future issues. Tickets are
being sold on a beautiful
crocheted afghan which is
presently on display here at the
Home
The Sunday evening chapel
service was conducted by Rev.
Bruce Guy of the Zurich United
Church.
