In the series with Drayton, each team won a game and will complete the series on Wed- nesday, February 23 at Zurich with the winner to advance against Brussels. Zurich came up with a clean sweep against Garden City, winning both games, Zurich 8, Dryaton 3 Wednesday, February 16 In the first period of play, it was Zurich all the way when they notched four goals. First, Robert Willert scored assisted by Mike Haggit, then Jim Willert notched one aided by Mark Regier. Before the period ended, Kerry Bedard found the range twice, with assists going to Jim Willert, Chris Denomme and Mark Regier. In the second period, Robert Willert raced down to slam in his second goal of the game at the five second mark. Then Drayton found the range on a goal by McEachern. Before the period "ended Kris Bedard notched another goal on a play from Mike Haggitt. The third period was even with each team adding two goals. Drayton 8, Zurich 2 Thursday, February 17 This game was the complete reversal of the game before, as the team couldn't get on track in cramped quarters in the very small Kurtzville arena. Drayton scored two goals in the first period and two more in the second frame before Zurich finally found the range at the start of the third when Kerry Bedard scored unassisted. Then Drayton pumped in three more quick goals before Mark Regier tipped in a shot from Kris Bedard. Drayton salted away their victory with another counter before the end of the game. Good Luck and Go Get 'Em Wednesday Boys, Zurich 10, Garden City 2 Saturday, February 19 Garden City came out fast in this game and scored at the 39 second mark, but Zurich scored six big goals before they could reply again. Jim Willert scored in the first period aided by Kerry Bedard and Chris Denomme. Then in the second period, Robert Willert scored three goals, and aided on the fourth goal by Len Van Wonderen. Kerry Bedard also scored from Mark Regier and Chris Denomme. Garden City got their second goal from Soma. The third period was Zurich's all the way with Kris Bedard notching two and Wayne McKinnon and Robert Willert scoring singles. Zurich 3, Garden City 1 Sunday, February 20 The Garden City goalie kept the score to a minimum in this contest as he came up with many saves. In the first period, Jim Willert found the range on a play from Kerry Bedard and Jeff McKinnon. The second frame saw another goal from Zurich by Len Van Wonderen from Kris Bedard. The third period was even when Doe scored for Garden City and Mike Haggitt netted the final goal from Mark Regier and Jeff McKinnon, Bob Hay and Kevin Geoffrey only had to handle eight shots on goal, while Garden City was peppered with 48. Atoms tie exhibition with Goderich team The Zurich and Goderich atoms played a 5-5 tie in an exhibition game at the Zurich arena, Wednesday night, The score was close from start to finish with neither club able to grab more than a one goal lead at any time. The game was only 49 seconds old when Zurich captain Dean Armstrong blinked the red light on a three-way effort with Doug Schade and Cam Steckle. After Goderich tied the score only 15 seconds later, the Zurich youngsters roared back with two successful shots. Rick Kuepfer converted a pass from Jeff Laporte and Dean Armstrong notched his second marker with passing help from Derek McKinnon and Brian Steckle. Goderich counted one more goal in the middle frame and outscored Zurich two to one in the second. The only Zurich marksman in 'the second period was Rick Kuepfer on an unassisted effort. The fifth and final Zurich score came from the stick of Dean Armstrong in the third period with assists going to Jeff Laporte and Mike Bedard.
