Hawks tied for first place
The Exeter Hawks are very
close to winning the Ontario
Hockey Association Junior "D"
western division championship,
The Hawks are tied for first
place with the Mitchell Hawks
with 46 points apiece and the
Tavistock Braves are second two
points farthqr back.
The Exeter club met Mitchell
last night Tuesday and also are
slated to meet Belmont in a game
which was postponed Sunday
night because of stormy weather,
It is the final scheduled game for
Mitchell. Tavistock has one game
left against Seaforth,
In the Hawks get at least one
point in these two games they are
assured of first place due to a
better goals for and against
record.
In their only start this week the
Hawks downed the Tavistock
Braves 8-4 to enhance their
chances for first place.
The Hawks wasted little time in
taking the upper hand in Friday's
important contest against the
Tavistock Braves.
Four goals in the first 10
minutes of the first period before
the Tavistock team knew what
happened enabled the Hawks to
take a commanding lead.
The game was only a minute
and 12 seconds old when John
Van Gerwen converted a pass
from Ken Pinder. At 4:54 the
score rose to 2-0 an a successful
shot by Matt Muller with the pass
provided by Phil Knight.
Only 50 seconds later Rick
Ingram hit the scoring mark on a
three-way combination with Tom
Hayter and Noel Skinner.
The fourth Exeter marker at
exactly the halfway mark came
from the stick of Brian Taylor
with the assist going to Rick
Ingram,
The Braves recovered quickly

MUTUAL FIRE INSURANCE
COMPANY
will be held in the
Township Hall, Zurich.
on
Saturday, February 26, 1977
at 2:O0 p.m.
for the presentation of the Annual Report, to elect
three directors to replace those whose terms expire,
and to transact all business as may be done at a
general meeting of the policy holders.
The Directors whose term of office expire are
Donald Campbell, Bayfield; Elmore McBride, Ex-
eter; and Mel Webster, Clinton. Mr. Campbell and
Mr. McBride are eligible for re-election; Mr,
Webster is not eligible for re-election due to By -Law
#21 - Qualifications of Directors (b).

the balance of the first frame to
cut the Exeter margin to a single
goal,
Finding the scoring range for
Tavistock were Brian Taves,
Lyle Rosendale and Mark Forler.
Brian Taylor of the Hawks
notched the only two goals of the
middle period to put his club back
in front by three goals. Rick
Ingram picked up the assists on
each,
The final Tavistock goal came
at the 22 second mark of the third
period from the stick of Manford
Gardner,
The seventh Exeter score was
registered at 7:46 by Ken Pinder
as he completed a three-way
effort with Phil Knight and Fred
Mommersteeg. It came on a
power play with Mark Fuller of
the Braves off for elbowing,
Game scoring concluded at
12:17 when John Van Gerwen
blinked the red light behind the
Tavistock net for the second
time. Assists went to Ken Pinder
and Fred Mommersteeg.
Brian Taylor with his three
consecutive goals led the Hawks
and shared point honours with
Ken Pinder and Rick Ingram,
