Zurich 3 - Grand Bend 2
On Monday, February 7, Zurich
and Grand Bend pee wees faced
off for the first game of the best
two out of three series in league
play offs.
At 6:11 of the first period Grand
Bend opened the scoring as Doug
Fisher put the puck behind Kevin
Oke in goal for Zurich (assisted
by Randy Ford and Dean
Courtney) .
At 3:10 of the second period
Paul Johnston ripped the cords
for Zurich's first goal with help
from Ricky Kuepfer. Zurich
came right back at 3:46 as Mark
Kirk and Rob Grenier set up
Brian Denomme to take the lead.
Dean Courtney tied the game at
8:41. He was assisted by Paul
Bishop and Doug Brenner,
At 2:26 of the third period Brian
Hornerscored the winning goal
for Zurich assisted by David.

Zurich Women's Institute
holds February meeting
The February meeting of the
Zurich Women's Institute was
held Monday, February 7, in the
Hay Township Hall with mem-
bers of the "Canadian
Industries" committee in charge.
Mrs. C. Gelinas acted as
chairlady. She was assisted by
Mrs. K. Westlake and Mrs. U.
Pfile.
After the traditional opening
including the Institute Ode and
the Mary Stewart Collect, a sing
song was enjoyed with Mrs. V.
Dinnin as pianist. After, Mrs. C.
Gelinas read two poems,
O'Canada was sung.
Mrs. K. Westlake introduced
the speaker of the evening Mrs.
Margaret Visscher. She
discussed her duties as nursing
practitioner in Dr. Wallace's
Clinic and the education required
to obtain such a position. She
stressed the satisfaction of this
type of work in comparison to a
nursing position in a city hospital
because of the opportunity it -
offers to follow a case through.
February being Heart Month,
Mrs. Visscher chose as her topic
"The Heart" giving the meeting
an interesting and informative
insight into the, important func-
tions of the heart and the nec-
essity of caring for it. She
touched on various ailments
common to it and explained how
diet and exercise can be balanced
Birthday party
for Rest Home
A most enjoyable evening was
held at the Blue Water Rest
Home on February 8 when the St.
Boniface C.W.L. council provided
a Birthday party for the residents
of the home. Twenty-three
members attended, besides the
residents.
Bingo was enjoyed by all and a
most delicious lunch was served.
Gifts were presented to members
of the home, who had February
birthdays.
When the residents retired, a
short meeting was held. The
highlight being the discussion on
Day of Prayer to be held on
March 4 in the United Church to
which all are invited, also the
quilt project was discussed.
The meeting was then ad-
journed and closed with prayer
led by the president Mrs. Carmel
Sweeney.

In the second game of the
series on Wednesday, February
9, Zurich took a quick lead with
Brian Horner connecting with
help from Mark Kirk. With only
20 seconds to go in the first period
Gord Love, assisted by Danny
Becker fooled Terry Brown, the
Grand Bend goalie to make the
score 2-0.
At 4:30 of the second period
Paul Overholt and Paul Johnston
combined for the Zurich goal. At
5:20 Grand Bend started to rally
when Paul Bishop set up Dean
Courtney,
Two fast goals by Grand Bend
tied the game. Doug Fisher
scored on a lone effort at 3:33,
while Randy Ford netted the
puck at 4:02. Tony Masse and
Doug Fisher got the assists. Dean
Courtney put the puck in the net
at 8:34 to take a 4-3' lead. David
-Smith put Zurich back in the
