Euchre party
The Hensall Women's Institute
held a most successful
progressive euchre party
Wednesday evening with nine
tables in play.
Prize winners were as follows:
ladies high, Mrs. Ross Riley;

Purdy; gent's high, James
Chalmers; gent's consolation, Al
Hoggarth; lone hands, James
Chalmers; Draw on ham, Mrs.

Sincere sympathy is extended
to Milton Van Patter and family
in the loss of his mother, Mrs.
Edith Mildred Van Patter, who
passed away in Hamilton on
Friday, February 11 in her 80th
year. The funeral was held from
the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home in
Aylmer on Monday, February 14
with interment in Aylmer
Cemetery.
Congratulations to to Joe and
Marg (Bauer) Laudenbach on the
safe arrival of their daughter
born Wednesday, February 9, in
St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto.
Joe and Marg and family have a
summer home in the village and
spend a great deal of time here.
Mr. Norman F. Cooper, Mount
Clemens, Michigan, was at his
residence on Clan Gregor Square
for the weekend.
Registered weekend guests at
the Albion Hotel included, Dr.
and Mrs. de Veber and family of
London; Dr. L.D. and Mrs.
Appleford and children of
Mississauga and Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Gould of Ypsilanti,
Michigan.
Mrs. Berthena Hammond
visited for a few days with her
sister and family, Mr. & Mrs. Ed.
Florian and Dennis in Clinton and
with her niece and family, Mr. &
Mrs. Robert McCool, Robert and
Angela at Londesborough.
A real friend is someboy who
takes a winter vacation on a sun -
drenched beach somewhere and
doesn't send a card.
Mr. & Mrs. John Pounder and
two children, London, visited for
the weekend with his parents Mr,.
& Mrs. Jack Pounder and Mary.
Mr. Michael Scotchmer,
Toronto is spending a few days
with his father, Mr. A.F. Scot-
chmer.
Bayfield
Brownies

There were 26 Brownies
present on Wednesday night. Ann
Bornath started the magic
squeeze, then we sang our
Brownie and Tweenie songs.
Brown Owl called out sixes for
our sixer songs. We had a
charade game with each six. We
each got a sheet of paper and
acted it out.
After our game, the Tweenie
went out with Fluffy Owl, Bonnie
Makins, for testing for their
Canadian Flag. Mrs, Porter,
Tawny Owl, worked with the
Golden Bars, Mrs. Penhale,
Brown Owl, is working with the
Golden Hands on their Canadian
and Artist Badges.
The L.A. were having a
meeting across the hall and when
they were finished, Mrs. Dunn,
the president, along with the
other mom's passed four girls on
Badges. Canada Badges to
Leanne Taman, Lisa Taman,
Debbie Siertsema and Lisa
Telford. We closed our Brownies
with Taps and our Goodnight
song.
Hensall on Monday evening,
February 7, with the president,
Bill Coleman, presiding.
Peter McNaughton presented
George Frayne, Exeter, with a
service diploma. The annual
Spring Fair will be held on June
21.
Elgin Thompson presided for
the election of officers as follows:
president, Bruce Rathwell; first
vice-president, Robert Baker;
second' vice-president, Ray
Consitt; auditors, John Baker
and Eric Luther. Jack Corbett
and Elgin Thompson were ap-
pointed delegates to the
Agricultural Convention being
held in the Royal York Hotel,
Toronto, February 16 and 17.
Chiselhurst U.C.W.
of Chiselhurst United Church was
held Tuesday afternoon following
a morning of quilting and a pot
luck dinner.
The president, Mrs. Harold
Parker presided and opened the
meeting with meditation followed
by the theme song and theme
prayer. The roll call was an-
swered by the members reading
the Beatitudes. The treasurer,
Mrs. Thos. Brintnell gave the
financial report.
Members plan to entertain the
residents at the Queensway
Nursing Home each Monday in
the month of March. The
president announced the World
Day of Prayer will be held in
Carmel Presbyterian Church
Friday, March 4, at 2:30 p.m. The
theme is "Love in Action",
The guest speaker will be Mrs;
Gwyn Whilsmith of Exeter;, Mrs.

The March meeting was
discussed and business dealt
with. The annual meeting will be
held on February 18 at 7:30 p.rn.
Mrs. Jack Brintnell was in
charge of the Worship Service the
theme was "Point of View".
Mrs. Thos. Brintnell took the
Bible Study and discussed
Chapters 10 and 12 of St. Mark.
Following the business, Mrs.
Parker closed the meeting with
prayer.
Unit 4 U.C.W.
The meeting of unit 4 of Hensall
United Church Women was held
Thursday afternoon. Mrs. James
McAllister opened the meeting by
reading five verses from Psalm
103.
Mrs. Ted Purdy gave the
devotional and asked the
questions. "Is every day just like
any other?" She based her talk on
Exodus 16: verses 22-30.
Mrs. James McAllister had the
topic and gave a graphic
description on the life of Jesus,
Mrs. Alfred Ross and Mrs. Laird
Meckle played two piano duets
which were enjoyed by all. Mrs.
Nan Britton reported on the
Huron Presbyterial held recently
in Seaforth.
The members were reminded
of the Congregational supper to
be held February 16, at 6:30 and
also the World Day of Prayer on
March 4, at 2:30 p.m. in Hensall
