Atoms tie Grand Bend
Zurich - 3, Grand Bend - 3
On January 24, the Zurich
Atoms played the Grand Bend
Atoms to a three -three tie in
Zurich.
The first period began with a
goal by Grand Bend but this did
not daunt the Zurich team. Rick
Kuepfer single handedly scored
the tieing goal for Zurich while
Jeff Laporte assisted by Dean
Armstrong put the Zurich team in
the lead.
No goals were scored in the
second period as both defenses
tightened their lines and fouled
offensive charges.
However, in the third period
Brian Kading of Grand Bend tied
the score at two -two, Zurich
retaliated within two minutes as
Dick Kuepfer scored his second
single-handed goal of the game to
again put Zurich in the lead.
However, the lead did not last
long as Robbie Mennen for Grand
Bend tied the score. The game
ended in a three -three tie.
Zurich - 6, Blyth - 3
Zurich trounced Blyth six to
three in a game played in Zurich
January 26. Once again it was in
the first period where the out-
come of the game was really
decided.
The Zurich team came on
strong and after five minutes of
play they were ahead two -
nothing. Rick Kuepfer and Dean
Armstrong were the Zurich goal
getters with Doug Schade getting
an assist.
Blyth managed to squeeze one
by the Zurich goaltender to get
themselves back in the game, but
Zurich was not to be stopped.
Before the period ended both
Darcy Martin and Dean Arm-
strong scored to give Zurich a
four - one lead. Rick Kuepfer
assisted on both goals.
Blyth came on strong in the
second period and managed one
goal at the five minute mark.
However, while Zurich failed to
score in the period they did
manage to contain Blyth so only
one goal was scored.
In the third period the Zurich
team seemed to find renewed
strength as they put in two fast

Good Citizenship
deserves a medal
Do you know anyone here in Ontario who—through
selflessness, humanity and kindness without expect-
ing anything in return—has made this a better
province in which to live?
That's the kind of person for whom the Ontario
Medal for Good Citizenship was established.
Recipients are selected by an independent
Advisory Council of Ontario citizens whose honorary
chairman is the Lieutenant -Governor of the Province.
Anyone may nominate a person for the Ontario
Medal, and nomination forms are available by
writing:
