Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Genttner
spent a few days in Michigan,
Mrs. Genttner visited with
relatives at Ortonville while
Lorne travelled farther.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Keller and
family spent two weeks at
Floridawherethey visited Disney
World, Busche Gardens, Silver
Springs and many more places of
interest. At Silver Springs, Ross
and Joe held one of the largest
Florida snakes. They were ac-
companied by Earl's two
brothers and families from
London.
Scott Boyle is now stationed at
Ottawa.
A number of relatives and
friends of the late Mrs. Ed Maier
attended her funeral at Needham
Memorial Chapel, London,
Saturday.
Friday supper guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Irvin Rader were Mrs,
Marjorie Knight, London, and
Mrs. and Mrs, Wellwood Gill and
Ray Patterson, Grand Bend.
Flowers in Zion Lutheran
church, Sunday were placed by
members of the families of Mrs.
Ed Maier and Kenneth Pat-
terson.
A number of relatives and
friends from here attended the
reception at the Legion. Hall in
Stratford, Saturday, January 15,
for Mr, and Mrs. Douglas Rader,
recent newlyweds.
Mr. and Mrs, Melvin Stade and
Sherrie and Mrs. Martha Miller
have had relatives visiting them
from the West even if they do not
enjoy our stormy weather. Last
Thursday they took Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Klein of Vancouver, B.C.
to the bus station in Exeter after
their visit here and in the evening
they picked up Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Biesenthal of Windthorst, Sask.
The ladies are sisters of Mrs.
Stade and Mrs. Miller.
Bridal Showers
Miss Darlene Ziler was
honored by two bridal showers
prior to her marriage January 14.
Two good friends of Darlene held
a miscellaneous shower January
9. The second was given by
Suzzanne and Donna Dietrich and
Mary Glavin, cousins of Darlene.
Darlene thanked the hostesses
and those in attendance for the
lovely gifts.

trounce Trojans
The Exeter Hawks turned in an
impressive victory Sunday night
in their only start of the week in
the Ontario Hockey Association
Junior "D" grouping.
Sunday night at the Zurich
arena the Hawks trounced the
Thamesford Trojans by a score of
9-1.
The Mitchell Hawks with two
ins over the weekend over the
Tavistock Braves have moved
back into undisputed possession
of first place in the league
standings.
Mitchell has 41 points, the
Exeter club is in second spot with
38 points and Tavistock is third
with 35 points. Exeter has played
one game less than Mitchell.
Tavistock has four games in hand
on Mitchell.
The Hawks are idle until
Sunday when they take on the
Seaforth Centennaires at the
Zurich arena at 8 p.m. Tuesday
night Mt. Brydges will be in
Zurich to take on the Hawks.
Game time is also 8 p.m.
Brian Taylor went on a scoring
spree for the Hawks with a six
point night. He scored four goals
and added two assists.
Thamesford scored their only
goal to get the game scoring
underway at 3:45 of the first
period.
It took the Hawks only seven
seconds to get back on even
terms as Brian Taylor scored on
an unassisted effort.
Rick Ingram finished off a
three-way combination with
Gerald Weido and Brian Taylor
at 8:27 to put the Hawks in front
to stay.
With only four seconds left in
the first period Kim McKinnon
put the Exeter club ahead 3-0 on a
pass from Matt Muller.
The Hawks continued the same
scoring pace for the rest of the
game with three goals in each of
the next two periods.
In the middle frame, Gerald
Weido scored on a pass from
Brian Taylor; Taylor finished off
a three-way effort with Rick
Ingram and Paul Brooks and
John Van Gerwen hit themarkon
passing help from Ken Pinder
and Tom Hayter.
In the final session Brian
Taylor was back with a two goal
effort to bring his game total to
four and Ken Pinder scored on a
solo dash.
Rick Ingram picked up assists
on both goals by Taylor and
Gerald Weido provided one
assist.
The Hawks picked up nine of 14
penalties handed out by referees
Rick Singleton and Harry Moir
who were summonded by Hawks
manager at the last moment
when appointed officials from
Kincardine were unable to get
through the storm.
The two Exeter stars receiving
the McKnight Men's Wear
awards were Brian Taylor and
goalie Randy Lovie.

Ladies Aid
Seventeen members of Zion
Lutheran Ladies Aid were
present for the January meeting.
Mrs. Lorne Genttner, president,
opened the meeting with a hymn,
Bible reading and prayer.
Pastor Mellecke took for the
topic, "Project Philip". He
showed a film strip which ex-
plained it. He showed material
used in the project. The aim is to
place a Bible in every home. •
Mrs. Genttner dealt with the
business. Several cards of thanks
and donations were received. The
Altar Guild reported 24 boxes
packed for the shut-ins. They also
made 24 visits and six phone
calls. The new Guild is Mrs. Elda
Koehler and Mrs. Irvin Rader.
The booklet, Strength for the Day
is to be renewed.
It was announced that a former
member Mrs. Ed Maier had
passed away in London and a
sympathy card will be sent to the
family. The Aid will purchase
extension cords for the church.
Group 1 was in charge of
clos'ng devotions and lunch.
