The annual White Gift
Service was observed at
Varna United Church on
Sunday', with members of the
Varna

Sunday School taking part in
the worship service. White
Gift offerings of money were
donated to the South Huron
Association for the Mentally
Retarded, At a short meeting
following the service, Ivan
McClymont, Charles Reid
and Eleanor McAsh were
elected to a Pastoral
Relations Committee to find
a minister for this pastoral
charge,
On Sunday afternoon, the
Christmas concert was held
in the township hall before a
large audience of neighbours
and relatives, including at
least one great-grandparent.
Laura Roy gave the opening
recitation. The Varna
Minstrels entertained with
several songs, and kept the
crowd laughing with their
gossip about local people.
All children of the Sunday
School gathered on stage to
sing Christmas songs, then

The Junior class presented
the play "There is a Santa
Claus" and the Nursery
class did two numbers, "I'll
Light My Christmas Candle"
and "Here is a Wreath." The
Kindergarten children all
got a chance to play Santa
coming down the chimney
with toys. The Primary class
did a Clown Drill to the
music of "Parade of the
Wooden Soldiers." The
Festival of Lights, which
was presented at the church
service was given again at
the concert. The programme
was interspersed with
recitations by Scott Kirton,
Greg Taylor, Tom Whit-
taker, Robin Norman, Scott

The December meeting of
Lutheran Church Women
was held in the form of a
Christmas Program.
The Church basement was
decorated with candles,
holly and a Christmas tree,
Mrs. Annie Finkbiener,
Mrs. Verlyn Fisher, Mrs.
Joan Turkheim_, and Mrs.
Donna Thiel were in charge
of the meeting. Christmas
Carols were sung and the
Christmas story was read.
Mrs, Lenora Turkheim
presided for the business
meeting. She welcomed our
new Pastor, Jack Dressler
and his wife Eileen to our
meeting.
Gifts were brought to the
meeting to give to the
Children's Aid.
Good cheer boxes were
packed for the Shut -Ins.
A short annual meeting
was held following the
meeting. Pastor Dressler
installed the following of-
ficers . : Mrs. Doris Diechert
- President, Mrs. Eleanor
Laurence - Vice -President,
Mrs. Marg Willert -
Treasurer, Mrs. Elsie Doerr -
Secretary.
A social hour followed.

Webster, Paul Hill, Lee
Norman, Darryn McAsh and
Lori Consitt.
When the first singing of
"Here Comes Santa Claus"
didn't bring the old fellow,
the kids really sang up a
storm. I'll bet Santa could
have heard them in
Brucefield. Thanks to the
Sunday School teachers and
the pianist for the time.and
effort they put into the
concert.
Margaret Hunt was the
winner of the lovely fruit
bowl set at the General Store
with the name "Jack."
Persona Is
The Tony Verhoefs have
moved into the former
Mustard home. We'd like to
welcome them to the neigh-
bourhood.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Burgoin
of Kingsville spent the week
end with the Whittakers and
attended the Christmas
concert,
