at it; is the village going to have Christmas
decorations?
Earlier this year, council upon reception of two
Christmas decoration catalogues took no action on the
matter, pending the approach of the local Chamber of
Commerce and Lions Club to see if they would be in-
terested in acquiring some decorations.
What happened?
It's ironic that on Monday morning while I was
complaining about the lack of decorations, Zurich's
PUC was putting up the decorations for Dashwood.

Personals
At the ABC session in the
municipal building on
Wednesday Dawna Westlake
got the high bridge score,
Gwen . Pemberton the low
and Ethel Knight won the
lucky draw.
Gwen and Chris Klaudia
and family were recent
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Baker to celebrate Gwen's
birthday.
Mrs. Arnold Makins and
her daughter Brenda Miskie
of Goderich and grand-
daughter Brooke, visited
with her other daughter
Bonnie in London for two
days last week.
Mrs. Lloyd Westlake was a
guest for a week with her
cousins Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Burnell in Guelph.
Week -end guests with the
Lloyd Westlakes were Rick
and Judy from London,
Catherine from Kitchener
and Paul Pringle from
Toronto.

It was a double treat as we
arrived early enough to
wander about the new lobby,
lounges rest rooms and
stairways. The comfortable
new red plush seats with
plenty of leg room were a
most pleasant change, and
no water was dripping down
on my seat like the last time
I was there!
Where it came from, in the
old theatre I'll never know,
but I even had a letter of
apology from the
management, had an um-
brella over my knees and
thought there was a bad
rainstorm. The stars were
shining and the streets dry
when we emerged. Was it the
ghost of Ambrose Small
weeping for his old theatre.
Orlo Miller thinks it may be
lurking there?
What a thrill it was to
study the grand old
proscenium arch, cleaned up
to look like new as we waited
for the new curtain to rise on

Golden Glimpses
Most of our Christmas
decorations are up and we
hope to make the Holiday
Season as festive as possible
for all of our people here.
We are pleased to welcome
Mrs. Caroline Gratton to the
Home. She is a former Grand
Bend resident.
Monday evening films
were shown followed by
refreshments.
Residents who have been
out visiting recently are Mrs.
Beatrice Overholt, Mrs.
Ferne Bowman, Mrs. Tillie
Rau, Mrs. Jenny Davis and
Mrs. Mary Sturley.
We hope you will plan on
attending the movie "Where
The Red Fern Grows" which
will be shown at Maplewoods
on Thursday, December 7th
at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in
the recreation room. Both
old and young are welcome.
Christmas is a time for
family and friends to get
together and we welcome
visitors to come to the Home
and spend even a few
minutes with our residents
during the holiday season.
We also invite individuals or
groups to share their en-
tertainment with the
residents here at the Home.
Please call the office and we
will arrange a time con-
venient to both parties.
Bingo was played on
Thursday evening followed
by refreshments.
Due to weather conditions,
the Sunday evening chapel
service was cancelled.
Although the rains of the
week end robbed us of most
of our snow, we are hoping
that the weather will co-
operate for the next two
weeks in order that all the
activities planned for the
residents and staff will be
able to be carried out.
