HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1978-12-07, Page 3Queensway entertained by Hensall Legion On Sunday, members of the Hensall Legion and Ladies' Auxiliary en- tertained the residents of 'Queensway Nursing Home and treated them •to ice cream, cake and candy. On Thursday the Thames Road UCW showed slides IIeusall Hilda Payne Bertha McGregor and had Christmas music and treats for the residents. Monday afternoon saw the Bethel Reformed Church Ladies' hold bingo games and supply treats to the residents. Visitors with Louise Mitchell were Vera Pinkham and Verna Coates and her son Les Mitchell. Betty and Cecil Smith visited with Nell Kendrick and Lynn Latimer. Ruth Durand, Al Varley and Susan Durand visited Mrs. Kendrick. Visitors with their husbands were Mrs. Purdy with her husband Len; Pearl Erratt with her husband Russell Erratt; Mrs. M. Oesch with her husband Pat Oesch. Mr. D. Rozendol visited his wife Alice. Barb Dougherty visited her mother Mrs. Irene Kalbfleisch. Church service was conducted by Rev. Forrest accompanied by Mrs. Mitchell at the piano. Christmas parties The staff of the Bank of Montreal enjoyed their Christmas party at the White Carnation on Friday night. • Hensall Branch 468 of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies' Auxiliary to the Legion are holding the Christmas party for their members' children in the, Legion Hall on December 10 at 2 p.m. United Nations The Rev. A. Young of Goderich conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday, the subject of his message was "The Blessing of Unrealized Nations", Mrs. Robert Taylor presided at the organ. The Induction service for the Rev. Kenneth Knight who has been called to the charges of Carmel, Caven and Cromarty congregations will be held in Caven Church Exeter on Thursday, December 14. Rev. Young will be in charge of the services next Sunday. Seniors meet The Three Links Senior Citizens will hold their Christmas supper meeting in the local hall on Tuesday, December 12 when the tickets will be drawn on the quilt. Fete departing neighbor A surprise farewell party was held Thursday evening at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Nick Blom when neighbours and friends gathered to wish Mrs. Peggy Forrest "good luck" as she takes up residence in her home in Exeter. A variety of games were played followed by a presentation the ac- companying address being given by Mr. Nick Blom. Messrs. Ken McLean and Jim McGregor presented the gift on behalf of the neigh- bours and friends. A delicious lunch was enjoyed by all. Persona Is Mrs. Rosa Harris of Smithers B.C. is spending a few weeks with her son-in- law and daughter Mr. & Mrs. William Noakes. Mr. Jack Corbett who has been a patient in Victoria Hospital, London undergoing treatment returned to his home. Mrs. Hugh McEwen who underwent surgery in Vic- toria Hospital, London returned to her home this week. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland, Gwen and Michael of Clinton were recent visitors with Mr. HELPING HANDS — When you're new at the game known as ice skating, it doesn't hurt to have a little bit of help.
