more says Ontario Hydro
Rates charged to
customers served by Ontario
Hydro's rural retail system
will increase an average of
seven per cent in 1979.
Ontario Hydro said that
the -increase is necessary to
recover the higher wholesale
cost of power as well as
slight increases in retail
distribution costs. Increases
in wholesale power costs for
municipal utilities and direct
industrial customers were
announced last month,
it was also announced that
as in 1978, bills based on
metered energy will con -

certain that the high sales of
energy to the U.S. and better
than predicted performance
by the nuclear plants will
result in excess 1978 ear-
nings as measured by the
AIB guidelines, The discount
as adjusted from time to
time will ensure that the
rural retail system's share of
this excess is returned to its
customers during 1979.
The effect of the increase
on individual customers will
vary depending on their
consumption and
classification. For example,
a typical rural residential
customer''s monthly bill of
$38.25 a will increase by ap-
proximately $3.
Details of the new rates
will be mailed to all rural
retail customers.

Regain winning touch
Sherwoods win, tie in hocke
The Hensall Sherwoods
gained three of a possible
four points in South Huron
intermedite hockey league
action this week.
Wednesday night at the
Huron Park arena, the
Sherwoods doubled the score
10-5 on the Centralia College
Saints and Thursday back in
Hensall they bounced back
with two late third period
goals to gain a 7-7 tie with
Kettle Point.
Brian Campbell scored the
tying goal against Kettle
Point with only 23 seconds
left in the third period on a
combination with Bill
Chipchase and Fred Camp-
bell.
Only 49 seconds earlier
Steve Knight put the puck
into the Kettle Point net on
passes from Bill Chipchase
and Brian Campbell to put
his club in the position to get
the equalizer.
Hensall took a 3-1 lead
after the first period of play
on successful shots by Al
Taylor, Steve Knight and
Rick Ingram. Brian Camp-
bell and Gary Kyle provi d
passes for two of the scores
and a single assist went to
Bill Chipchase.
In the middle frame Kettle
Point outscored Hensall
three goal to two and cut the
home team margin to a
single goal.

has meeting
The Huron County Unit of
the Canadian Cancer
Society held its fall meeting
on Monday November 20 at
the Wesley Willis Church in
Clinton.
There were 22 members
and friends in attendance
representing Seaforth,
Exeter, Goderich and the
Clinton branch. The
Wingham branch had no one
present.
President Helen Davies
chaired the evening which
opened with two vocal solos
iven by Wyn Homuth,
ccompanied by Mrs.
Radford at the piano.
The upcoming campaign
conference to be held in
Toronto in January was
discussed and each branch is
to send a delegate.
Each branch wishing to
participate in a Daffodil Day
to start the 1979 campaign in
April is asked to have their
representatives in to the
campaign chairman by the
end of November.

goals to take a two goal edge

Get early lead
In Huron Park Wednesday
night, the Sherwoods jumped
into a 5-1 first period lead
and were able to stay in front
for the balance of the game.
The College club rallied for
the only two goals of the
middle session and the first
of the third period to get
within one of the Sherwoods,
but, that was as close as
they could get.
Allan Taylor scored two of
the first period Hensall
markers and_ single .scores
were added by Rick Ingram,
Brian Campbell and Dan
Taylor. Bill Chipchase and
Fred Campbell each picked
up two assists andDanCrerar
helped on one goal.
The only first period CCAT
score came from the stick of
Murray Connolly on a pass
from Kyle Pederson.
The second period was
scoreless until the final five
minutes when the Saints hit
for two goals. Brian Gilpin
completed a three-way
passing effort with John
Nyonhois and Rick Vanos
and then popped in a pass
from Marty Becker.
At the .51 second mark of
the closing period, Rick
Vanos hit for the College on
passes from captain Glen
Weitzel and Brian Gilpin to
cut the Hensall margin to 5-4.
With less then 16 minutes
left the Sherwoods moved
into high gear and five dif-
ferent players hit the
scoreboard to clinch the
verdict.
Fred Campbell was the
first to score on ar
unassisted effort and then
provided an assist on a goal
by Dan Taylor.
Next came a solo goal by
Steve Knight. Rick Ingram
registered from Lloyd Allan
and Bill Chipchase fired the
final goal for the Sherwoods
on a pass from Brian
Campbell.
The fifth and final goal for
CCAT was shot by Harry
Holman on an unassisted
effort with only a minute and
eight seconds remaining.
The Sherwoods will be
back in action tonight,
Thursday at the Hensall
Community Centre when
they play host to Thedford.
Game time is 8 p.m.,
Monday, the Sherwoods
travel to Goderich.
