Donald Geiger decorated by Margaret Garrett. Tickets were sold on a piece of Sara Coventry jewelry which was won by Sharon Sinnamon. The "senorita" auctioneer turned out to be Ann Chapman cleverly disguised. Auxiliary members were very pleased at the large attendance and at the proceeds which were realized. Armistice service in Clan Gregor Square An Armistice service was held at the Memorial Cairn in Clan Gregor Square on Sunday. The Clinton Legion • Band and Clinton Legion Color Party were in at- tendance and the service was conducted by the Rev. George Youmatoff. Wreaths were placed at the Cairn by the village churches and organizations. A service was held af- terwards in St. Andrews' United Church with the Rev. "Man finds his highest calling in relation- ships of creative harmony, rather than in the com- petition to develop the devices of death. United States bean cro•; holding steady The best estimate of the Michigan crop is about 4,8 million bags. This represents the average of the last 5 years of crop and will result in between 1,040 and 1,050 pounds per acre compared to approximately 11 bags in Ontario, That yield in Michigan is an average yield for Michigan but the Ontario yield represents about 200 pounds to the acre less than the 5 year average with the ex- ception of 1977 crop. The producer price in Michigan currently is $14. per hundred pounds and has ranged between $13. to $14. over the past two or three months. It is hoped that this will change in the future to reflect a better return to the producer since he may not be that interested in growing beans at those levels. . It is also believed that there is between 1 million ZURICH ABATTOIR Custorn Slaughtering & Processing Beef Sides or Quarters Whole or Sides of Pork PHONE 236-77193 and 1.2 million bags of producer beans being held back on the farm in Michigan which more than likely will not surface until next year sometime and only in the event of better producer prices than currently are evident. The Minnesota crop is somewhere around 600,000 bags or better which probably is close to double the production of last year. The interesting thing in Michigan, however, and Minnesota is the fact that the producers are not satisfied with the current price levels and if they refuse to sell at these levels there is no question that the market will strengthen.
