Glimpses
It appears that the
weatherman intends to co-
operate to -day for the local
elections.
A polling booth has been
set up at the Home which will
give our residents the
opportunity to cast their
ballots and take an active
interest in the affairs of the
community.
On Tuesday evening, the
Blue Water Auxiliary held
their regular meeting at the
Home. Mrs. Marie Gelinas,
Margaret Gingerich, Martha
Ducharme and Mary Lou
Denomme were in charge of
the meeting and programme
which was presented in the
dining -room and consisted of
musical numbers by Mr.
Mozart Gelinas, Jr. & Sr.
piano, guitar and vocal solos
by the three Ducharme
sisters. A prayer for peace
and a meditation was given
by Mary Lou Denomme.
Following the programme, a
delicious lunch was served
and the Auxiliary held the
business part of the meeting.
We hope you will
remember our bake sale and
tea to be held on Saturday
afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00
p.m. at the Home. I am sure
any donations of Home
baking will be very much
appreciated by the
Auxiliary.
We wish to invite the
public to the series of movies
beginning on Thursday,
November 16th from 2:00
p.m. and 7:00 p.m. once per
month. The first movie will
be Ryan's Daughter and we
hope the public will take
advantage of these.
The five Miller Sisters of
Dashwood entertained the
residents to an enjoyable
evening on Thursday. The
programme was held in the
dining -room followed by
refreshments. Bingo was
played on Friday evening.
Sunday November 12th
was a big day for Miss Marie
Gelinas who celebrated her
101st birthday at the home of
her nephew Mozart and
Marie Gelinas Sr. of Zurich.
A large number of friends
and relatives were on hand
to help celebrate the happy
occasion. We wish to thank
Mr. Quimby Hess for the
beautiful umbrella plant
which will help beautify the
lobby of the Home.
The Sunday evening
chapel service was con-
ducted by Mr. & Mrs. Eric
Luther of Hensall. Mr.
Luther presided at the organ
and Mrs. Luther sang a solo
and conducted the worship
service.

twice in SHHL action
The Zurich Buckeyes had
their best degree of success
in the still young South
Huron Hockey League
season with the Buckeyes
defeating Huron Park 8-5
Thursday in Huron Park and
shutting out the Grand Bend
Colonials 4-0 Sunday after-
noon in Zurich.
Sunday, the Buckeyes
scored late in the first stan-
za with Steve Bedour con-
verting passes from Ron
Rader and John Graham.
Two minutes later, Kim
McKinnon found the range
while Paul Maguire of the
Colonials was off for boar-
ding. Gerald Weido and
Graham assisted on the
goal.
There was no scoring in
the second period although
referees Harry Moir and
Lee Tryon did call five
penalties, four to Zurich and
one to Grand Bend.
In the third period, the
Buckeyes hit the score sheet
again as McKinnon picked
up his second goal of the
game. Getting his third
assist of the evening was
defencemen Graham. Pat
Bedard also assisted.

With only 1:54 left to play
Rader scored with the assist
going to Dave Cyr.
At Huron Park Mike
Clarke and Glen Overholt
Lead the way as they scored
two goals each.
Combines lose
two games
The Hensall Combines
were on the losing end off two
games this week going down
to defeat against the
Parkhill Merchants 4-1
Thursday and 13-2 Sunday.
In Thursday's game Hen-
sall scored the opening goal
on an unassisted effort by
Dwight Consitt.
The Merchants scored two
more goals in the first of
their margin of victory and
added goals in the second
and third periods to ice the
victory.
The Combines were total-
ly outclassed Sunday with
their goals coming from
Rick Ingram and Fred
Campbell,
Hensall plays tonight at
home with CCAT supplying
the opposition.
The Buckeyes scored the
only two goals of the first
period as , McKinnon and
Steve Haberer found the
range. Picking up the assists
were Graham and Grant
Lee.
With three minutes elaps-
ed in the second stanza
Zurich scored again with
Ken Smale beating the
Huron Park goalie. Graham
and Rader assisted.
In, a span of two minutes,
two goals were scored by
each side with Overholt
scoring for the Buckeyes
from Lee and Haberer.
Zurich then scored on a
powerplay with Rader doing
the job. Smale and Ron
Desjardine assisted.
Following another Huron
Park tally, the Buckeyes
came back as Clarke scoring
his second goal of the game
unassisted.
In the third period Bedard
scored for the Buckeyes
with an assist from Cyr.
The Buckeyes final goal of
the game came off the stick
of Overholt with a little over
four minutes remaining. Lee
and Cyr assisted.
