Marie Gelinas is 101
Many friends, relatives
and staff from the Bluewater
Rest Horne called in to see
Miss Mary Gelinas on the
occasion of her 101st bir-
thday. An open house was

held at the home of Mr.
Mrs. Mozart Gelinas Sr.
followed by a pot luck supper
for the family. Well known to
many of us as "Aunt Mary"
she said, "I guess I'm
starting all over again!"
Figure skating begins
The Zurich, Grand Bend
figure skating club is under
way for another season and
over 100 children have
signed up to take lessons.
Tuesday nights are for
private lessons and Saturday
for group lessons. There will
be a Christmas bazaar on
December 2 at the arena and
at that time the 50 50 draw
will be made. Your support
on these projects will be
grateful and beneficial to the
club.
Show films
The Maple Woods Apts.
will be showing a series of
six films starting today at 2
p.m. and 7 p.m. Everyone is
welcome to attend. There
will be one film a month.
First one is Ryan's
Daughter.
Bluewater bazaar
Just a reminder of the
bazaar, tea & bake sale that
is to take place at the
Bluewater Rest Home this
Saturday afternoon from 2-4
p.m. It's sponsored by the
ladies auxiliary. Donations
will be greatly appreciated.
Persona Is
Visitors with Mrs. Mary
Gerber last Sunday were her
son and family, Mr. & Mrs.
Orland Gerber of Baden.
Mrs. Mary Gingerich had
the Misfortune of falling and
breaking her ankle and will
be in a cast four to six weeks.
Doug Meidinger of
Burlington, son of Mr. &
Mrs. Leo Meidinger and his
girlfriend, Audrey Dobson
also of Burlington were
recently home on the
weekend and the couple
announced their
engagement.
Mrs. Lydia Regier is
happy to have another new
granddaughter. She was
born on November 2 to Barb

Mrs. Margaret Soper is a
patient in St. Joseph
Hospital, London and Harold
(Tiny) Thiel has been in
South Huron Hospital,
Exeter for some time now.
Mrs. Annie Finkbeiner
recently spent a week with
her son and daughter-in-law,
Maurice and Dorothy Fink-
beiner in Belmore.
Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Latour
and family, RR 2 Zurich, are
vacationing in Florida for
two weeks. Barbara is the
custodion at the. Senior
Apts.
Mr. & Mrs. Leo Debus and
family of Stratford were
weekend guests with Mr. &
rs. Paul Bedard. They also
attended the Hoffman -
Martin wedding in Grand
Bend on Saturday.
Ken McCarter, Charlie
Eckel, Bob Forrester, Jim
and Lawrence Becker were
part of a group that went on a
hunting trip for a few days
around Dyer's Bay. In spite
of all their efforts, they came
home empty handed.

Margaret Hess, Marie
Hess and Elda Wagner have
returned home from a three
week bus trip to California.
They all had a very nice time
but said were glad to be
back.
Miss Verda Buehler of the
senior apartments spent last
week with her sister and
family Mr. & Mrs. Floyd
Buehler in St. Jacobs.
Mr. & Mrs. Jerome
Ducharme, Mr. & Mrs.
Matthew Ducharme and Mr.
& Mrs. Jerome Denomme
spent the weekend visiting
relatives in Kingsville.

Hensall reeve Minnie
Noakes 687 to 466 votes.
Turkheim took Hay and
Zurich while Noakes won her
home riding of Hensall.
In Hay, Turkheim had 468
votes compared to Noakes'
288 while in Zurich,
Turkheim had a 154 vote
cushion. .
In Hensall, Noakes had 152
votes while Turkheim
managed 39.
Turkheim told the Citizens
News he had no comment
on the outcome of the
election.
Noakes said she was
disappointed at the outcome.
She stated,"There are a lot of
things I want answers too."
The people of Huron are
not getting full value for
their education dollar she
said.
The first bridal shower
was staged in Holland ac-
cording to legend. When the
father of the bride-to-be
refused to provide a dowry,
the girl's friends each
brought her a gift, enabling
her to wed the man of her
choice.
