The Merchants went on to skate to a 13-3 victory over the Buckeyes. Staff photo Nip Hensall, lose to Goderich Home town Buckeyes split games The Zurich Buckeyes had a mixed level of success this past week nipping the Hen- sall Combines 9-7 Friday in Hensall and getting thumped 13-3 Sunday afternoon in Zurich. It just wasn't the Buckeye's day Sunday as the Goderich Merchants scored the first six goals of the game. Zurich finally hit the scoreboard at the 10:54 mark of the second with Ron Desjardine taking a pass from Ron Rader and beating the Goderich netminder. Following a five goal out- burst bythe Merchants, Kim McKinnon scored for the Buckeyes midway through the third period. Picking up the assists were Gerald Weido and John Graham. Zurich's final goal of the game with three minutes left in the game as Bob Farquhar scored unassi3ted. Both teams took a total of only seven penalties. Friday's game was a hard fought battle with a total of 16 penalties called. The Buckeyes followed with two goals of their own by Grant Lee and Glen Overholt. Getting the assists were Rick Schilbe, Ken Smale and Steve Haberer. Hensall tied the game up with 1:40 remaining as Fred Campbell found the range again. Assisting were Bill Chipchase and Dwight Con- sitt. The Buckeyes took the lead again as Lee scored an unassisted goal with only 39 seconds„ left in the period. In the second period the Buckeyes, went ahead 5-2 on goals by Pat Bedard and Smale. Weido assisted on the Bedard goal. Hensall got one back as Knight scored from Larry Bourne and Rick Ingram. Weido assisted. With a little over a minute remaining in the second period, Fred Campbell scored his third goal of the game for the Combines with Consitt assisting. In the third stanza, Zurich hit for two goals by Schilbe and Weido. Schilbe, McKin- non and Weido assisted on the goals. Hensall scored their final goals of the game as Knight, Consitt and Campbell with his four goals of the night scored. Chipchase and Gary Kyle had two assists each, with Bourne adding the single assist. Schilbe scored the final. goal of the game for the Buckeyes with only nine seconds remaining. Save 60¢ Ib.
