Resident celebrates 90th birthday on Friday
Mrs. Nancy Koehler
celebrated her 90th birthday
as guest of honor at a supper
held on Friday at her
daughter and son-in-law's
home. Mr. & Mrs. Leonard
Zurich
Carmel Sweeney
Erb, in Hensall. Her children
and relatives were present
from Huntsville and
Toronto.
A sister, Mrs. Edmond Erb
and daughter Mary Lou, and
a niece Mrs. Newell Geiger
all from Zurich were on hand
for the occasion.
Greetings were received
from Prime Minister
Trudeau and Governor
General, Bill Davis, Joe
Clark and M.P. Bob
McKinley.
Another birthday
Mr. & Mrs. Nap Corriveau
attended a 90th birthday
party last week end for Miss
Ada Coulter of Milverton, it
was held at the home of Dr. &
Mrs. Earl Coxon of
Wellesley.

Mr. & Mrs. Dennis
Overholt ,attended their
sister's wedding Marilyn
(Ducharme) Hassel last
Saturday in London. The
reception was held at the
Banqueter.

Hold family reunion
Mr. & Mrs. Orlen Sch-
wartzentruber took ad-
vantage of having all the
relatives come for the
wedding and held a family
reunion at their home on
Sunday.
Those present were from
Tavistock, Elkart Indiana,
Strathroy, Chatham,
Dresden, Bothwell, Exeter
and Zurich.

Mr. & Mrs. Harry
McAdams, Mrs. Tillie
Tetreau and Mrs. Marie
Pask spent Sunday in Royal
Oak Michigan visiting with
an old friend Mrs. Gladys
Cochron.
Working in India
Miss. Adriana Van Raay,
daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Case
Van Raay R.R. 3.Dashwood
is on her second visit to India
where she is doing mission
work with Brother Bob
Mittleholtz. She hopes to be
able to stay for a whole year
this time, as government
regulations may not permit
her to stay that long. We all
wish her good health and
good luck in her rewarding
work with the poor and less -
fortunate people of this
world.

stopped foran overnight visit
with Jerome and Carmel
Sweeney and family on their
way to a trip up north
(Sudbury). On their return
home they will stop in again
and spend a few days.
Mrs. Annie Finkbeiner
spent the previous week end
with her son and daughter-
in-law Maurice and Dorothy.
Finkbeiner in Belmore. They
are formerly of Zurich and it
was reported that they enjoy
reading this column as it is
all about people they know.
Last Wednesday the senior
citizens went on a bus trip to
Niagara Falls and Marine
Land.
Mr. & Mrs. Carl Oesch and
Jane were visitors at the
home of Mr. Si Mrs. Leonard
Cressman in New Hamburg
last Sunday and celebrated
Jane's birthday.
Mr. Maurice Durand and
Mr. Claire Geiger are • both
patients in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London. Also Mrs.
Beatrice Geiger is in
University Hospital.
Butch and Marion
Sweeney of Kippen and
Mozart and Julie Gelinas
will be attending a
"Marriage Encounter"
weekend this Friday to
Sunday in St. Thomas at the
Sheridan Inn.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Oesch
were pleased to have a
grandson born on September
18th. His parents are Bev
and Ron Oesch of Blake.

Lutheran 'ladies
have meeting
Growing in Personal
Prayer was the topic for the
September meeting of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church
Women, Zurich. Mrs. A.
Deichert led the discussion
by asking questions: What
do you feel prayer is?, What
are the reasons you pray?,
When and where do you
ra
p Mrs. E. Deichert and Mrs.
P. Willert assisted with
devotions and a lunch of
sandwiches and coffee.
Mr. J. Turkheim presided
over the business meeting.
It was decided to celebrate
the 100th anniversary of the
church building by inviting
all the ladies of our church
to our October 10th -meeting
when the topic will be on the
history of our church
building.
Hensall arena opening
Four days of special ac-
tivities will herald the
opening of the new Hensall
Community Centre.
The official opening will be
held on Wednesday evening,
November 1. The following
night Thursday will be
family night and dances will
take over the spotlight for
Friday and Saturday nights.
Organizers are hoping to
stage an old timers hockey
game sometime during the
opening week.

demonstration in Toronto on
Saturday and Sunday at the
Sky Line Hotel.
Miss Vicki Bowman spent
the past weekend with her
aunt, Ethel Meyers, at Blake
also called on Mrs. Mary
Hey and Mrs. Margaret
Yeaman.
