On Saturday at 1:35 a.m., a vehicle driven by Timothy Smith, Huron Park, failed to negotiate a curve on Algonquin Drive and crashed into a parked car. The latter was owned by Velda Bowman, RR 8 Parkhill. Constable Jim Rogers investigated and set damage at $1,050. He also investigated an accident on Sunday at 3:30 a.m., when a car driven by Barbara Guenther, Dash- wood, dopped off a man- made dam at lot 5, con- cession 14 Stephen. The vehicle flipped onto its roof after falling to the bottom of a four -meter ravine. Damage was estimated at $2,000. Three of the accidents occurred last Monday, one of which resulted in major injuries to Cora Ann Lemoine, Maple, who was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Peter Sutherland, Huron Park. He lost control of the vehicle on concession 2-3 of Stephen and hit a hydro pole in the west ditch. Two other passengers, Susan Derulle, Huron Park, and Ray Snell, Centralia, along with the driver, sustained minor injuries. Constable Bob Whiteford set total damage at $800. VERNON SCHATZ Couple celebrate golden anniversary A celebration for the golden wedding anniversary of Vernon and Della Schatz was held Sunday afternoon at the Dashwood Communi- ty Centre. Head table guests for a family dinner at 1 p.m. were Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bender, Toronto; Rev. and Mrs. William Schatz of Pennsylvania; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schatz, Garden City, Michigan; Mrs. Luella Calfas, Sarnia and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Edighoffer, Mitchell. The'afternoon and evening Open House attracted more than 300 persons who signed the guest book. The hall was decorated with family photos and floral tributes presented by relatives and friends. A plaque and federal government certificate were presented by Huron - Middlesex MPP Jack Riddell and Perth MPP Hugh Edighoffer. Guests were present from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Guelph, Scarborough and Kitchener. Mr. Schatz has been in the general store business in Dashwood for more than 55 years.
