IRVIN RADER Mr. & Mrs. T. Harry Hayter held Open House Sunday in honor of their daughter Janice's for- thcoming marriage. In charge of the guest book was Jayne Hayter, sister of the bride. Hostesses were June Hayter, Gloria Hayter, Marion Rader, Margaret Merner and Ruth Anne Merner, Displaying the gifts were Janice's bridesmaids Joanne Maguire, Shirley De Vries, Joanne Muller and Terry Thomsen, the trousseau. Mrs. Theada Bruce and Mrs. Freida Schmidt prepared the luncheon. Bridal shower Mrs. Lloyd Rader held a bridal shower at her home Sunday for Marilyn Walsh, London, bride -elect of September. She was assisted by Mrs. Glen Rader and Mrs. Jim Lynn, Centralia. Contests were conducted. Marilyn received many lovely gifts for which she thanked everyone. The hostesses served lunch. Lutheran church picnic The Zion Lutheran church picnic was held at the park Sunday, August 27. Sunday School and the morning service were held in the pavilion followed by a smorgasbord dinner with group I of the Ladies' Aid in charge. The Sunday School teachers and superintendent Don Rader conducted sports with the following results: Preschoolers, Shelli Rader and Patti Miller; Kin- dergarten and grade 1, Bobby Vandeworp, grade 2 and 3, Lisa Rader; grade 4 and 5, Greg.Becker; grade 6 and 7, Michele Vandeworp; shoe scramble, grades 1-4, Greg Becker, grades 5-8, Brad Heinz; frisbee throw, Greg Becker. Girls 3 -legged race, Lisa Becker and Robin Kraft; boys', Ross Keller and Greg Becker. A candy scramble was held for all children. Susan Tieman's team won the gum relay. ' Personals Susan and Chris Baynham have returned to Oshawa with their parents, Mr. & Mrs. Spike Nagel after spending several weeks with their grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Koehler. Mrs. Bob Park, Tracy and Robbie, Parkhill, were Wednesday visitors with Mrs. Greta Schade. Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Mason Clifford Pepper was honoured on his 60th bir- thday, Friday, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marion Miller with 30 guests in at- tendance from Clinton, Hensall, Seaforth,. Belleville and Exeter. and Doug; Mr. & Mrs. Larry Mason and family spent several days in Toronto visiting many places of interest. Dashwood playground came to a close Friday, August 24 after a very successful summer, with a total of 54 children joing the program. The children enjoyed days filled with games, crafts, fun days which included a trip to the Pinery Zoo and Gand Bend amusement park. Donna Miller and Barbara Rader, the girls in charge, hope the children enjoyed the playground as much as they did. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Bennett returned home Thursday, following a four month stay in Regina, Saskatchewan. They visited with Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader. Mrs. Mabel Mellecke has returned to Wisconsin after spending the summer with her son and family, Rev. & Mrs. M. Mellecke. David Mellecke returned to Saskatchewan. Irvin Rader who turned 65 Saturday, August 26 was honored with a family gathering at the home of Mr. & Mrs. David Rader, Stacey and Derek. Present for the occasion were Mr, & Mrs. Fred Miller 'and girls, Zion; Mr. & Mrs. John de Niet and Tina, Willowdale; Mr. & Mrs. Paul Rader and Mr. & Mrs. Bill Bennett, London; Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Rader and Elgin Rader. Irvin received a watch and clock radio. Mr. & Mrs. Mike Burke and Susan, Brampton, were weekend visitors with Milt Haugh. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Rumball and family have moved into their new home which replaces the one destroyed by fire. The families of the late Ezra and Mary Tieman gathered at the home of Mr. & Mrs. George Tieman Sunday for their sixth reunion. A day of visiting was had by members from Mississauga, Byron, Exeter, Kitchener and Dashwood. Mr. & Mrs. Syd Baker spent Sunday at Port Colborne with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Huffman. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Bruce and Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Schmidt, Windsor, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hayter and family and at- tended "Open House" for Janice. Nine Dashwood seniors attended the Zone 8 picnic Wednesday at Seaforth Community Park. Mr. & Mrs. John Parker and Scott, London spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Wolfe. Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Wolfe accompanied Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Eagleson of FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS — Many volunteers were a very necessary part in making Saturday's Zurich Bean Festival a great success. Mrs. Ross Love and her sister, Mrs. Ila Kayes Parkhill called on their aunt, Mrs. Ethel Mellin at Strathroy Hospital, Wed- nesday. Mrs. Mellin was 93, August 26. Mr. & Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan had as guests Sunday their family, Mr. & Mrs. Bob Stormes, David, Susan and Peter, St. Thomas and Mr. & Mrs, Bob Cornelius, Mark and Stacey, Sarnia. More than 60 exhibitors were on hand to show and demonstrate the newest and finest products in home improvement. And more than 50 door prizes were given away.
