the frog jumping contest at
the Zurich Bean Festival on
Saturday, Darryn's frog was

were sloshing around in the
mud and the crabs, helping
the kids catch some lively
frogs.

resuine on Sunday at the
regular time, after a month's
vacation. The September
U.C.W. meeting will be next
Thursday evening, Sep-
tember 7 at 8;30. The
program committee has'
arranged for Mrs. Marion
Lawrence, a Mennonite
minister's wife from
Dungannon to speak.
Everyone is welcome to
attend.
Since we• came to Varna
five years ago, half of the
residences have changed
ownership, and three new
houses have been built. The
three business on or near the
intersection have changed
hands, and recently Norman
Smith sold his tractor repair
shop to Bob Norman, who
owns property adjacent to it.
Bob gets pos,session on
October 1, and intends to use
the shop to repair his own
farm machinery.
Norman has been in
business for 20 years, since
he and his brother, Walter,
took over Harvey Boyce's
welding shop. A year later,
Norm bought John
Aldington's hardware store
across the road and moved
his business there, and
Walter went to work for John
McAdam.
Norm (Mr. fix -it for the
village) will continue to do
some tractor and small
engine repairs in the garage
at his home.

Golden
Glimpses
The days are becoming
noticeably shorter and I am
sure we are all' hoping for a
nice fall.
The residents enjoyed a
number of visitors over the
week end—some purposely
visiting, others combining a
trip to the Bean Festival and
visiting old friends. William
Decker particularly enjoyed
his trip through the town on
a wagon drawn by show
horses owned by Mr.
Penhale of Bayfield. Many
people stopped them to visit
and admire the team.
Residents out visiting dur-
ing the week were Mrs.
Beatrice Overholt, Mrs.
Tillie Rau, Mrs. Mary
Sturley, Mr. Francis Squire,
Mrs. Ella Jory, Mr. Rudolph
Stade, Mrs. Agnes Siemon,
Miss Cecil McLeod, Mrs.
Mabel Gossmand Mr.
Wellington Riehl.
The regular meeting of the
Blue Water Rest Home Aux-
iliary will be held on Tues-
day, September 5 .at 7:00
p.m. A program and
refreshments will be provid-
ed for the residents.
The lucky winner of the
quilt drawn at the Bean
Festival was Mrs. Mary
Funk, RR 2 Hensall. The.
President of the Auxiliary
wishes to extend her thanks
to all who worked and
helped to make the booth a
successful venture again
this year.

Our '79 Kawasakis are built to turn all your snow times
into good times. They take all the joys of snowmobiling
and heat them up to a new degree of hotness. After all,
snowmobiling is a sport where good times are king. So
it's just good sense to snowmobile on the king of good
times.
In case you hadn't heard, last year's Kawasakis were hot
enough to blow everybody else away. So hot. our In-
vader set a new world 24-hour endurance record of
1,287 miles with lap speeds up to70.5 mph. Proving un-
questionably that Kawasaki is the hottest thing on snow.
