HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1978-08-17, Page 19SHUFFLEBOARD -COURTS OPENED— The residents of Maplewoods Apartments west of Zurich have some added recreation facilities in the form of a shuffleboard court and barbe- que pit thanks to some hard work by its seniors club and a New Horizons grant. At the official opening Saturday Dennis Corriveau of the seniors group, John Corbett representing the board of directors of the Blue Water Rest Home, MPP Jack Riddell and MP Bob McKinley tried the new court out. Julie Zurich Carmel Sweeney Rau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darl Rau was held at St. Boniface school. Miss Leslie Hogg daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hogg, R.R. 2 Zurich was feted at $t. Peter parish hall. A shower in honour of Miss Marilyn Meidinger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Meidinger was held on behalf of the Bank of Mon- treal staff at the home of Mrs. Janet McKinnon. A shower for Miss. Ber- nadette Ducharme, daughter of Paul Ducharme Sr. and the late Violet Ducharme, is being held at her sister -in- laws home, Mrs. Dorothy Ducharme, R.R. i -Dashwood tomorrow. Mr. & Mrs. Louis Denomme have recently visited their sons, Joseph, in Alberta and Steven in Kelowna, B.C. Mr. & Mrs. Don Schenk and family enjoyed all the rides at Bob -Lo Island on their holidays. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Bridle and Joanne spent much of their summer at Lake Shore trailer park south of Goderich. They spent the week end at Dyer Bay. Mr. & Mrs. Allen Scott and boys enjoyed a camping trip in the Tobermory area which included a two hour ferry boat ride to Sault Ste. Marie and a return trip home through the states. Mr. & Mrs. Kevin McKinnon and Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Rader recently spent their holidays at Niagara Falls, Crystal Beach and Fort Erie. Ed Keenan and son Tom returned from visiting relatives in Ireland. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Oxland of Kitchener visited a few days with Mr. & Mrs. Fred Haberer. Mrs. Susie Kipfer is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Lori Cooper of Ingersoll spent a week's vacation with her grand -parents Mr. & Mrs. Earl Flaxbard also their daughter Ruth Anne of London, was there for the week end. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Overholt and family finished a months holidays at their summer home in the area. Lise Becker of Crediton is spending a few days with her grandmother, Mrs. Marcella Die trich. Mr. & Mrs. Frank Kane are presently enjoying the company of their twin daughters. Mrs. Anne Besazzi and Mrs. Barbara O'Connor, their grandson Steven Besazzi and son-in- law Pat O'Connor all of San Francisco.
