Will feature arm wrestling
Friedsburg Days soon
The Dashwood fire depart-
ment and a host of
volunteers are busy prepar-
ing for the village's ninth an-
nual Friedsburg Days. The
volunteer firemen are again
the sponsors.
The popular event will be
held Friday and Saturday
August 4 and 5 at the
Dashwood Community Cen-
tre and athletic field
grounds.
Chairman Don Bender is
optimistic that this year's
production will be bigger
and better than ever.
The grounds will open at 5
p.m. Friday August 4 when
the always popular
sauerkraut and sausages
will go on sale and continue
through both days.

last week visiting in
Baltimore, Maryland, with
their sister and sister-in-law,
Sister Marie Pierre. They
also spent a day in
Washington.

Nancy Rader are in charge
of the beauty contest.
Parade chairman Ruth
Ann Merner expects a large
number of floats, bicycles
and transportation of all
kinds to join in on the mam-
moth Saturday afternoon
parade.
The floats and par-
ticipants will be judged at 1
p.m. and the parade will get
underway one hour later.
The sports program under
the direction of chairman
John Becker will again
feature arm wrestling and a
tug-of-war contest.
Preliminaries in both events
will be held during the after-
noon with finals going at 7
p.m.
Ron Merner is again in
charge of the food com-
mittee and the bar com-
mittee chairman is Harold
Schroeder.
News from
Huronview
Twenty-five members of
the over 90 club attended the
annual picnic at the Conser-
vation Park, Clinton,
Wednesday afternoon. The
Walkerburn Club
volunteers, Mrs. Pat Hunk-
ing, Ila Cunningham, Kay
Lapp and Eileen
McClinchey, assisted with
activities. Three junior
volunteers, Joy McClinchey,
Julie and Debbie Cun-
ningham, were in charge of
the contests and the Huron -
view Orchestra entertained
with Old Tyme and sacred
music.
Several residents enjoyed
the Scottish concert in Clin-
ton Saturday evening. Many
thanks to the Murphy Bus
'Lines who donated the
transportation.
Dick Roorda led the Chris-
tian Reformed Sunday even-
ing song service accom-
panied by Margaret
McQueen, with vocal
numbers by Mrs. Bylsma.
The residents were enter-
tained on Family Night with
a concert by the Bob
Heywood orchestra of Ex-
eter. The concert was held
on the front lawn and was
appreciated by all the
residents. Bob plays the ac-
cordion and sings many of
the sacred and favourite
songs. The other two
members of the group are
Calvin Horner on guitar and
Jeff Rooth on drums.
Several residents have
been enjoying the plays at
the Huron County
Playhouse, Grand Bend.
