Staff photo r Ignorance Mr. Tom Creech, Zurich Citizens' News, Zurich, Ontario. Your article in the July 6th issue of the newspaper was quite exemplary of the ignorance prevalent today concerning Christ,God's Gift to mankind. It was obvious to me that you haven't had much contact with Christ's living church, as of late, Tom. Perhaps you were never taught the true meaning and significance of belief in Christ. I feel responsible, as a person who sought to un- derstand my relationship with Christ (for many years), to give you the basis for belief in God and Jesus Christ. If my faith in God is living and real and fed by fellowship through the Holy Spirit, then the `crutch' of which you spoke is non- existent. I have a relationship with a person who has been called "Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace", Isaiah 9:6. God's Gift to mankind was and is the offering of life to those who acknowledge and receive unto themselves the sacrifice of death and sin through His resurrection - to give us life! It is the resurrection and ascension of Christ and His Life in me - "Abide in Me and I in you.", that gives me hope and assurance of His love for me as a person. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he' live, and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die." John 11:25. I also have assurance of life with Christ after I die, physically, because of a promise He made, "Let not your hearts be troubled, believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also." John 14:1-3. The great love of God for mankind was the guiding force in Christ's life on earth. For God Himself came in the form of man, as Jesus Christ, so that He could reconcile man to Himself. "Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new crea- tion; the - old has passed away, behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ, recon- ciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of recon- ciliation." 11 Corinthians 5:17,18. God gave Himself in Christ to be the propitiation for our sin, that whoever accepts this sacrifice is no longer dead in sin - for the 'wages of sin is death' - but is alive as a new creature in Christ. May I point out that in rejecting Christ, one also rejects God, and this is the basis of sin. (If you desire a definition of sin, it is simply 'disobedience and rebellion against God' and it takes the form of 'sins'. These are listed in many places in the Bible, but I'll give you only a few. "Fornication, impuri- ty, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife„ jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit, en- vy, drunkenness, carousing and the like." . Galations 5:19-21.) There is so much more I'd like to say, but I don't want to make this a trial for you, DOMINION HOTEL ZURICH Entertainment SATURDAY NIGHT Dwight James Dining Room Open 7-9 we get letters Tom. Being a journalist I would have thought that you would be familiar with the greatest work of literature - The Bible. I'd recommend that you read the Gospel of John and then the other three - Matthew, Mark and Luke - if you are willing to become more familiar with the person of Jesus, who is God. May you truly find life and peace through coming to an understanding, yes, you must use your`mind, and un- derstanding of how you fit into a relationship with Jesus of Nazareth - the in- carnation of God. May Christianity. become more to you than just a `religious crutch'. By the way, Christianity is not a religion as most of the people of this world would think. Christianity is the practise of a relationship with the liv- ing God at least that is what it SHOULD be, that is what it was meant to be before man made it into something for his own benefit. "Behold I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My Voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:20. May you open the door and your heart to Him. Yours truly and sincerely, Maura J. Gascho.
