Bake sale Saturday
Rev. William Bennett
officiated at the 8 a.m. Holy
Communion Service and the
10 a.m. Sung Mattins in
Trinity Anglican Church
Sunday morning. Jeanne
Bennett had the older
Sunday school pupils in
Church for the service and is
teaching them the prayer
book and how to follow the
Service.
The Rector reminded
those of the Trinity ACW
annual bake sale on
Saturday July 22 in the
Parish Hall at 11 a.m. and
noted that one should be
punctual as all baking was
sold in 21 minutes last year.
Rev. Bennett also con-
ducted the Evening Prayer
Service at the Bluewater
Rest Home in . Zurich. A
Trinity Church member and
former resident, Miss. Viola
Cadger was organist for the
Service.
Return from trip
Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Higgins
returned home last week
from a 3055 mile tour to the
East coast. They travelled
by Charterways Bus in super
comfort and were able to see
many of the out-of-the-way
places. They noted that both
Canada and the U.S.A. are
pushing tourism and just
couldn't do enough for the
travellers.
Some of the highlights of
their tour was the Historical
Fort Louisburg, Citadel at
Halifax, Bluenose Clipper
Ship and the oldest Anglican
Church in Canada built in
1749. The Halifax tour was
arranged by their Chamber
of Commerce who sent a
very knowledgeable and
charming guide to narrate
for them. A special highlight
was a 101/2 hour cruise on the
M.S. Caribe from Yarmouth,
Nova Scotia to Portland
Maine. The sun shone and
the ocean was calm, a
perfect day.
The Higgins noted that the
vegetation in the east was
lush and green and it is
mountainous country with
the mountains not as high
and austere as the Rockies
and one felt closer to them. It
is a land of many bridges and
they had the pleasure of
passing through Bayfield,
N.B. All along the highway
they saw coloured lupins
growing in profusion in a
wild state and were very
beautiful. They remarked
that Peggy's Cove is of
picture post card beauty and
a gorgeous sight. They
clambered onto rocks and
said that one formation
resembled a Whale. They did
however miss seeing the
cows and wondered what the
folks used for milk.
