Golden Glimpses
I am sure there are many
people ready to relax this
week since last week was
Senior Citizens' week and
many activities took place
throughout the country.
However, we hope they will
not be forgotten until this
time next year.
On Tuesday evening the
June birthday party was
sponsored by the ladies of
Goshen United Church. A
programme of singing,
square dancing and piano
selections was enjoyed.
Residents having birthdays
during the month were Mrs.
Ferne Bowman, Mrs. Ruby
Hoggarth, Mrs. Ella Jory,
Mr. James McAllister, Mr.
Wm. Siebert, Mrs, Nancy
Schwartzentruber and Mrs.
Mary Sturley. Birthday
gifts, courtesy of the ladies
auxiliary were presented.
Following the programme, a
delicious lunch was enjoyed.
Bright and early Wednes-
day morning, residents of
the home and also of the
Maplewoods apartments
boarded a chartered bus for
a day long trip up north. The
bus stopped at Collingwood
where a number of residents
browsed around the Blue
• Mountain Pottery Plant.
They stopped in Owen Sound
where they enjoyed a picnic
lunch. On the trip back home
they stopped at the
Ponderosa for dinner in
Kitchener.
Bingo was played on Fri-
day evening followed by
refreshments.
To climax Senior Citizen's
Week, a family dinner nor-
mally held during the Easter
season was served to ap-
proximately 215 guests of
the Residents on Sunday
afternoon.
Bob Heywood and two
members of his band Jeff
Rooth and Calvin Horner
entertained the residents
and their guests prior to and
during the dinner. During in-
termissions Mrs. Dorothy
Stade and Mr. Paul Klopp
favoured 'with organ selec-
tions.
We are very grateful to
these people for relin-
quishing their afternoon for
our pleasure. We wish to
thank the members of the
