AND MRS, THOMAS MYERS both anniversary f.rmer Zurich couple Mr. and Mrs, Thomas H. Myers of Sheraton Villa, Mississauga and formerly of Zurich, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Satur- day as friends and relatives gathered at the Hay township hall in Zurich. Mr. and Mrs. Myers were married in Varna on June 19, 1988. The bride was the former Cealia M. Desjar- dine, youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Z. Desjardine of the Babylon Line. The groom's parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Myers, Blake. The couple resided in Stanley township and Manitoba until they moved to Zurich in 1927. This past November they moved to Mississauga. Mr. Myers was with Canada Packers for many years and was also con- nected with the Zurich Creamery and McKinley Hatcheries. He was member of the IOOF Hensall and was a charter member of the Zurich and Area Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Myers was a mater- nity nurse and for fifteen years managed her own nur- sing home, GRAND FINALE SUN. In 1958 Mrs. Meyers was honoured by being named "mother of the week". She was an active member of the Zurich Women's Institute for more than 40 years and sat on the board of the Federated Women's Institute of Ontario. The couple have three daughters, nine grandchildren, three great - grand children and one great -great -grand child. c Playhouse open house on Sunday The Huron Country Playhouse will hold an open house on Sunday afternoon, June 24 between the hours of 2.4 p.m. The general public can have a cooks tour of the Playhouse, through the workshops, rehearsal halls, grounds, lounge quarters, offices and of course back stage. Members of the 1978 Com- pany, the Board .and staff will be on hand to guide the visitors from paint to point and answer questions and to serve light refreshments at the conclusion of the tour. The public is entitled to at- tend the open house for which there is no charge. A Gala Dance and Monte Carlo night will kick off the Huron Country Playhouse season on Saturday. Hun- dreds are expected to attend the event which is given each year for season ticket holders. This year regular admission to the dance, which features music by Joe Fieder, will also be available. Monte Carlo Casino night is being added to the night of festivities. Food andcTrink will be available at the event which begins at 9 p.m. Fireworks will augment the Huron Country Playhouse opening on Tues- day, July 4. Directly follow- ing the performance of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple, the show's stars Jack Duffy and Les Carlson will cut a huge cake which will be served to the crowd of first nighters. A capacity attendance is ex- pected at the opening of the Playhouse 7th Season. 1 ladies so it teams int: high gear The Zurich ladies softball league swings into operation for another with four teams taking part. The team this year are the Dodgers, the Road Runners, the Skyhawks and the Bluebirds. The following is a list of the each teams players and the schedule.
