Although last week's
weather was not the ideal
weather for an outdoor
picnic, the Ladies Auxiliary
held their annual picnic for
the Residents indoors on
Wednesday afternoon. The
picnic began with a fashion
show. Residents modeling
the hats and accessories
made from household
gadgets were Mrs. Ferne
Bowman, Mrs. Rebecca
Clarke, Miss Cecil McLeod,
Mrs. Pearl Gale, Mrs. Ruby
Hoggarth, Mrs. Mary
Sturley and Mrs. Susan
Snider. The' narrator was
Mrs. Mary Gingerich. Sit
down games and relays were
played with residents
receiving prizes for their
efforts . Mrs . Gertrude
Fleischauer was pianist for

The Zurich Women's
Institute entertained branch
members from Crediton,
Kippen and Seaforth on
Monday.
The Bradly Family of
Clinton provided very
listenable music, in vocal
and instrumental selections
'for the program.
The members of the June
committee were Mrs. H.
Hohner, Mrs. H. Smith, Mrs.
H. Thiel and Mrs. M. Doerr.
--the occasion. Following the
programme a picnic supper
prepared by the Auxiliary
was very much enjoyed and
appreciated.
We regret that Mr,
Lambert Witmer is again a
patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London.
We welcome Mrs, Natalie
Ness, formerly of Dashwood
as a new resident.
Residents out visiting
during the week were Mrs.
Ella Jory, Miss Flossie
.Davey, Mrs. Mabel
Gossman, Mr. Wm. Decker,
Mrs. Jenny Davis and Mrs.
Mary Sturley.
June 18 is the beginning of
Senior Citizens' week. Plans
are under way for special
festivities to mark the oc-
casion, one of them being a
day long bus tour to
Collingwood and home by
way of Stratford. The bus
tour to. the Lions' Safari last
year was very much en-
joyed.
The Sunday evening
chapel service was con-
ducted by Rev. Bruce Pierce
of Crediton United Church.
Mrs. Leila Finkbeiner
presided at the organ and
accompanied the soloist,
Mrs. Jackie Pierce who- also
played the Auto Harp and
read two of her poems en-
titled "Victory Living" and
"The Classroom."
The theme for the month
being "Canadian
Industries."
Mrs. William Ferguson, of
Ferguson Apiaries Zurich
presented interesting and
educational pictures,
During the business
meeting, conducted by Mrs.
H. Hohner, Mrs. H. Thiel was
given a Life membership pin
in appreciation for 25 years
of active service. Mrs. L.
Klopp spoke of Mrs. Thiels'
years as Treasurer, which
position she still holds. Mrs.
H. Hohner presented her
with the pin.
