nightly show can be boring unless you're a movie
magazine freak and enjoy finding out how an actor or
actress prepares his or her broccoli.
On the other hand, Monday night sports are con-
sidered a waste by many people. As far as I'm con-
cerned the more Monday night football, baseball,
hockey, whatever, the better.
There is one type of sports of program that is not
worth watching and that's the ' "made for TV junk
sports".Who cares if Farah Fawcett has a rotten
backhand or that Robert Conrad is a sore loser?
They're paid to perform and not to be jocks or
jockettes. -
Television has a lot of possibilities that may be ex-
plored sometime in the near future as there are cer-
tain shows that are leading the way with consumer
oriented programming.
It's possible that in the future we could do our
shopping at home or take night courses while sitting
on the living room sofa.
Until that time I'll take my junk food and slowly
degenerate as I watch "America 2Night"

Talk about weeds
Six girls gathered at Mrs.
Orlen Schwartzentruber's,
on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
They began the first meeting
of their "garden club." Their
nickname is "Weary
Weeders." We elected our
officers.
Worth mentioning is the
"weed inspector." Julie
Miller was elected for the
job. She visits our gardens,
to look for weeds and with
her she brings her little book.
We discussed "Why grow a
garden?" Two points where:
you get good quality
vegetables•With no additives.
ditives,
-it's economical and it in-
cludes getting outside in the
fresh air and getting exer-
cise.
You should try to plant
your garden in rich loamy
soil. You should try to avoid
areas that are heavily
shaded, too much rubbish,
areas which are hilly and not
drained too well. Flowers
should be grown because
they add beauty to the
surroundings.
The next meeting will be
held at Darlene Steckle's on
June 7.

hot
Appliances that heat things up
can use a lot of electricity. Here
are some tips on how to cut
down.
Electricity down the drain.
A dripping hot tap can waste 175
gallons of hot water a month.
A new tap washer costs only a
few pennies, '
Watch out for the,
elements. Choose the
element that best
fits the pan.
' A lid on the pan
also keeps
heat from escaping.

Give your dishes the air.
•You'fl save electricity with your
dishwasher if you cancel the final
dry cycle. Just open the door
and let your dishes
air dry,

Load it in your
favour. Wait until
you have a full load
before you wash.
And remember,
much of your
laundry will get
just as clean in cold
water. Afterwards,
hang your clothes
outdoors to dry.
Don't join the tub club.
A shower usually
takes less hot
water than a bath.
Don't sneak
a peek.
Don't open
the oven door
unless you
have to, And
don't use an
oven full of
heat for one
small item.
