Over $1000 from skateathon
The annual skateathon
sponsored by the Zurich
Recreation, Parks and
Community Centre Com-
mittee proved to be another
success with 72 skaters
taking part and just over
$1,000 received in pledges.
According to arena
manager Jerry Rader only
eight skaters failed to make
the 10 hours which the
skateathon was slated for.
Winners of the 10 speed
bicycle for top money
collector and of the red
wheel roller skates will be
announced on May 20, which
is the last day to have all
donations in. Two lucky
draws will also be made at
that time.
All participants in the
skateathon received a free
membership pass for this
summer's roller skating
season.
Rader expressed gratitude
to all the skaters who turned
out and to the individuals
who helped with the

Manager announces
new skating rules
By JERRY RADER
Arena manager
Roller skating starts this
weekend on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday nights
from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the
Zurich Arena.
However, due to a few
problems arising last year,
there will be a few changes
in the rules for this season.
For example, there were
non -skaters coming in and
bothering the people who
enjoy the sport of skating,
and there were older skaters
playing games such as crack
the whip, tag, racing,
tripping and many other
infractions.
In order to eliminate a few
of these problems, we are
forming a "skating club".
Any person wishing to roller
CO.OP
skate at the arena must
purchase a membership
card. The fee for this card
will be 50c and can be pur-
chased at the arena. The
membership card must be
shown when paying ad-
mision to go skating. This
card allows you to bring in a
friend but their name must
be signed in at the office as
well as the card -holder's
name. In the event that the
friend or yourself are found
violating any arena rules, his
or her membership will be
revoked.
Hopefully, this will be a
solution to the problems we
were experiencing last
season and that the people
who want to skate will enjoy
the sport more.
Admission for skating is
$1.00, rentals 50c.
