Will encourage tests
in Huron schools
By SHIRLEY J. KELLER
Rubella Titre tests are
encouraged in Huron County
for all grade 12 and 13 female
students, Huron County
council learned on Friday at
the regular March session.
This test determines
whether or not any young
womanhas immunity to
German measles, the
disease which if contacted
during the early days of
pregnancy can cause serious
defects in the unborn child.
Young women who are
found to have no immunity to

the disease can be vac-
cinated to prevent disaster
from German measles
during any pregnancies.
Now, after a decision of
Huron County Council, the
vaccine will be made
available to all female
students in their graduating
year with the cost to be paid
by the Hur9n County Health
Unit.
Board of health chairman,
Deputy -reeve Paul Steckle of _.
Stanley township, told
council the vaccine is ex-
pensive — ten doses for $25.
As well, the vaccine does not
have a long shelf life, and is
not one that physicians
normally stock.
"It is therefore in-
convenient and rather ex-
pensive for a student found
to require the vaccine," said
Steckle, who urged the
vaccine be made available
by the county.
About 40-50 students may
require the vaccine in Huron
County per year. The annual
cost of about $125 to the
county is not subsidizable by
the province.

police car and then transferred to a waiting police
van, all within about'a ten minute span.
About one hour later, there is a fury of vehicles out
near the runway. Lo and behold, its the coffee truck
with a police escort.
Queuing up in orderly line, a Budd worker
remarked "Can you believe this, a coffee break during
a strike?"
After seeing a plant that looked like it had been
struck by a hail storm, a group of strikers that started
to have a dispute among themselves, a column of 35
riot equipped police officers running interference for
a tow truck to tow a car that had been gone for a
minimum of ten minutes, this writer will believe prac-
tically anything that is associated with this dispute.
