The Zurich bantams have
played nine games in the
past two weeks both in ex-
hibition and tournament
play. They managed to come
up with 7 wins and 2 losses.
In preparing for the tourna-
ment for Harriston they won
2 games over the Exeter
"A" Bantams and one game
over Dublin. The scores
were Zurich 4 Exeter 2 on
March 12; Zurich 4 Exeter
1; and Zurich 2 Dublin 1. In
the first game against Ex-
eter, Robert Willert scored
all four goals and in the 2nd
game, he netted three of the
goals with David Smith get-
ting the other one. Against
Dublin, David Smith scored
one goal and Robert Willert
the other counter.
Zurich was entered in the
"C" and "DD" category at
the Harriston tournament,
meeting Clinton in the first
game, on Tuesday. Zurich
couldn't get on the right
track for a win due to many
penalties. Robert Willert
and Robbie Grenier each
scored, but it wasn't enough
because with only 11 seconds
left to play, Clinton scored
into Zurich's empty net
when Zurich pulled their
goaltender. But game ended
as a 4-2 loss.
This sent Zurich into the
consolation race, meeting
Tottenham in the second
game of the day. Zurich
went ahead in this game on
goals by Brian Horner and
Graham Kobe, but before
the 1st period ended,
Tottenham notched a goal.
In the 2nd period, Zurich
scored 3 more goals to the
visitors one, two by Robert
Willert and the other by
David Erb. In the last
period, Guy Wilde salted
away the victory with two
goals to win the game 7-2.
Both Kevin Oke and Bob
Hay played outstanding in
the nets.
After a one game rest,
Zurich came out again with
high spirits, excellent goal-
tending, and a 6-1 win over
Elora to capture the Con-
solation Trophy. The first
period was even with each
team scoring, Zurich's goal
was by Robert Willert. Then
after two more goals in the
second period, both short-
handed, from Robert Willert
and Guy Wilde, Zurich went
on to add three more in the
last period for a big win

after a long day of playing
three games. The third
period goals were scored by
Robert Willert, Guy Wilde
and Pat Cyr.
Since the Bantams were in
high spirits, they accepted
the challenge to go back to
Harriston on Wednesday to
fill in for Mitchell in the
"CC", "B" category. They
met Ridgetown and battled
to a 3-2 win. Zurich started
the scoring by Robert
Willert, assisted by Jim
Willert early in the first
period. It was late in the se-
cond frame when Ridgetown
scored, but 15 seconds later
Robert Willert scored again
totake the lead.
However before the se-
cond period ended,
Ridgetown tied the score
again, and it wasn't until
late in the last period that
Robert Willert scored the
winner from Guy Wilde and
held on until the final
buzzer.
At 8:30 p.m. the same day,
Zurich came up against
Woodbridge for a thriller
that wasn't decided until
3:39 of a 5 minute sudden -
death overtime period.
Again, excellent goal-
tending by Bob Hay and
Kevin Oke paid off in the 4-3
win. Again, Zurich scored
the first goal by Robert
Willert from David Smith,
but Woodbridge scored two
goals to go ahead in the se-
cond period. Then after the
between period rest, Zurich
tied up the score on a goal by
Robert Willert from Guy
Wilde.
But once again Wood-
bridge notched the go-ahead
counter. The high point in
the game came when Kris
Bedard skated down and
scored with only 31 seconds
remaining, to tie the game
and send it into . over -time.
Zurich won the game when
Robert Willert got a break
and went in around the
goalie to slide in the "win-
ning goal"!
The bantams traveled back
up to Harriston on Thursday
to play Walkerton in the,
semi-finals, but their tired
bodies kept them from ad-
vancing any farther as they
lost 3-0. This was their 6th
game in three consecutive
days, but their efforts were
foiled in a penalty -ridden
game with Zurich getting 10
and Walkerton 13 penalties.
This ended a very
successful season for the
Zurich bantams. They
played a total of 45 games,
coming up with 38 wins and 7
losses. Zurich registered 6
shut -outs and only twice
were held off the score
sheet. Zurich scored 276
goals, while 107 were scored
against, them.

Request quota
transfer changes
The National Farmers
Union has requested the On-
tario Milk Marketing Board
to make some much needed
changes in the quota
transfer policy for the com-
. ing year.
Blake Sanford, Coor-
dinator for Region 3 of the
NFU in a letter to the Chair-
man of the O.M.M.B, urged
the marketing board to es-
tablish a quota policy that
would require all quota
transfers to be handled
through the board at a set
price and that this price be a
diminishing price that would
eventually bring the price of
quota in Ontario to "zero".
In the dairy year of 1976-77
all quota transfers were
handled through the board at
a set price but in the past
year Market Share quota
transfers have been return-
ed to the open market and
this has left the door open
for unscrupulous dealings
allowing some people to
speculate on quotas. The
price of Market Share Quota
has risen over ten times in -
value since it was returned
to the open market.
Mr. Sanford added that
the NFU described the quota
policy of 1976-77, when all
quota transfers were handl-
ed by the board .as a step in
the right direction,
