Mrs. H.an
V Essen of
Exeter was the theme
speaker for the World Day of
Prayer service, which was
held in Goshen for the ladies
of the Varna -Goshen charge.
Canadian women prepared
this year's service on the
theme "Community Spirit in
Modern Living". Mrs. Van
Essen said that while there
Varna
by Mary Chessell
are many people who do
good community work,
Christian women have
something special to offer to
the community. In their
involvement with the people
around them, they must
remember to proclaim their
faith in some way. She
recommended the second
chapter of Philippians as an
excellent guildeline for
community living.
Geraldine Eckel led the
prayer service, and a trio
comprising of Elva Beck,
Linda Linfield and Noreen
Hayter sang "Don't Forget
to Pray". Following the
service, the groups
separated to conduct their
business. A dessert euchre is
planned for Wednesday
afternoon, April 19. The
April programme committee
has invited Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Erb to show pictures
and speak to the members
about their trip to visit their
daughter in Afghanistan.

same day, the Heards en-
joyed an air and ground tour
of all the main islands. They
were in Los Angeles on the

crashed on the runway
during take -off for Hawaii,
and were delayed an hour
because of the accident.
Rev. and Mrs. Alex Taylor
