Golden
Glimpses
Although most people in
the area were shivering for a
few hours over the weekend
because of the power black-
out, the residents here were
still cozy and warm since the
generator automatically
takes over in case of
emergency. Perhaps the
extreme temperatures that
we have been experiencing
have helped us to avoid the
snow storms we have been
promised. The members of
the Explorer Group of the
Lucan United Church have
been very faithful to our
residents over the past few
years, and again this year on
Valentine's Day, the
residents received pretty
homemade valentines which
were placed on their dining -
room 'tables for them to
enjoy.
On Tuesday evening, the
members of the Hurondale
Women's Institute gathered
at the home for a musical
programme of accordion,
violin and piano
arrangements after which a
delicious lunch was served
and a social time enjoyed.
On Wednesday evening
films were shown followed
by refreshments.
Please look elsewhere in
this paper and cut out the
agenda listing the dates and
names of the movies to be
shown in the recreation room
of the Maplewoods Apart-
ments commencing on
Thursday, March 2 at 2:00
p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Previously it was announced
that the movies would be
shown on Fridays but the
time of showing has been
switched back to Thursdays
again. The first movie to be
shown will be Sweet Charity
starring Shirley Maclaine.
We hope that the weather-
man will co-operate so that
the public will have the
opportunity to enjoy these
movies.
Mr. Dolph Sopha and Mrs.
Olive Andrew are patients in
South Huron Hospital,
Exeter. We wish them a
speedy recovery.
Bingo was played on
Friday evening followed by
refreshments.
The Sunday evening
chapel service was con-
ducted by Rev. Dave
Adcock, Youth Pastor of the
Exeter Pentecostal Church.
Miss Maureen Erb presided
at the organ. During the
service, Miss Martha and
Maureen Erb rendered piano
and accordion duets.
