bantams win two
During the week the
Zurich bantams played three
games and came up with two
wins and a loss. In exhibition
play they won over Goderich
5-4, while in W.O.A.A.semi-
finals in "C" Division, they
defeated Palmerston 3-
2 Saturday and lost by a score
of 5-2 to the same team
Sunday.
Zurich opened the scoring
against Goderich when
Robert Willert hit the target
on a play from Robbie
Grenier. Before' the first
period ended Goderich came
back with two goals to take
the lead.
The second period was
Zurich's all the way. Guy
Deitz slapped in the tying
goal, assisted by Guy Wilde
and Graham Kobe, and
Robert Willert notched two
quick goals with Jim Willert
assisting on both and David
Smith aiding on one.
In the first half of the last
period, Goderich came up
with two quick goals to tie
the game again. However, in
the dying seconds, Kris
Bedard came up with the
winning goal with assists
going to Pat Cyr and Jim
Willert.
In the Zurich -Palmerston
series, it's tied at one game
each with the winner to be
decided Thursday night at
Palmerston. The game at
Palmerston Saturday was
fast and furious with
Palmerston scoring first, but
before the first period ended
Robert Willert managed to
slap one by to tie the score.
The second period was all
Zurich's as far as the scoring
went, Guy Wilde notched his
goal, assisted by Kris
Bedard, and then Robert
Willert put his team ahead,
by blasting another goal past
their excellent goal -tender.
Palmerston scored
another goal in the last
period, but Zurich managed
to stay out front, mainly
because of Bob Hay's ex-
tremely fine goal -tending
during the entire game.
'Sunday's game was a
different story, when
Palmerston started the
scoring and stayed. out front
for the entire game. Zurich
didn't get on the score sheet
until the last few seconds of
the second period, when
after a scramble in front of
the net, Robert Willert poked
the puck in with assists going
to Kris Bedard and Jim
Willert, but by then the score
was 4-1.
During the last half of the
third period, Kris. Bedard
scored for Zurich, but a few
minutes later, Palmerston
salted their victory away
making the score 5-2.
