Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $200 by Constable Ed Wilcox. On Thursday at 7:35 a. m, a car driven by Keith Watson, I<irkton, collided with a hydro pole. Damage to the hydro pole was estimated at $200 by Constable Bob Whiteford and $1, 000 to the car. On Friday at 10:40 a.m. a truck driven by Marten Dykstra Exeter, collided with a van driven by Edward Johnson, London, on Highway -1 at Highway 84. Ilaluage to both vehicles was estimated at $150 by Constable Bob Whiteford, On Friday at 11:15 a car driver. by Beverly Genttner, Exeter, collided with a ditch on Iligli- way 4. Damage was estimated at $700 by Constable Don Mas- on. During this week officers of the Exeter detachment investigated three thefts; total value of property taken, $165. $85 has been received and one juvenile has been charted in connection with one of these thefts. The tender is subject to approval by the Ministry of Ed- ucation and the Ontario Munic- ipal Board. The Riehl tender, the lowest of nine received by the board, was $68,14.1. The highest was $94, 342. The board will put 417 feet of link fence along the property line of the o acre recently purchased for St. Marys' School at 'lesson from Simon Steululler R,R..1, Listowel, to provide a better roadway for the school buses. The fence was one of the provisions required by tite Perth Land Division Committee before approval of severance was given, in order to safeguard the children living on adjacent properties, presently owned by Ron Poissant and Mr. Stetuntler. A schedule for implementing; the Family Life Program was presented for Board approval by John Vintar, Superintendent of Education. It calls for the program to be planned at meet- ings in January for the principals the teachers and the pastors to instruct the Grade 6 students in the 15 -week period from Feb- ruary to May. As it has not been possible to obtain a co-ordinator for the program, Mr. Vintar suggested that the saltie program as used last term, when it was initiated, should continue this year. A pilot course for Grade 7 wig: be started at St. James School, Seaforth, as four of the teachers at St. James have taken the course for instructors. Mr. Vintar was congratulated by the board members for Itis recent election as vice-presid- en of the board of governors of the Ontario Association of Education Administrative off- icials at the 6th annual confer- ence in Ottawa. Mr. Vintar said a metric planning committee is being formed as Thomas 1�'c11s, Min- ister of Education has said Ont- ario is ready to begin implem- entation of the metric system in the schools next year with the aiin that schools will he fully converted to utetric by 1117. Mr. Vintar said that classes for parents on the metric system will be held as well asthe classes for teachers. Assistant Superintendent Joseph Tokar reported on a planning meeting, he attended at St. Lawrence School in Lon- don last week attended by rep- resentatives from Elkin, oxford, London -Middlesex and 1lurott- Pertit county Rotitan Catholic Separate School Boards. The board decided against asking municipalities to pay school tax levies four times yearly instead of the present twice yearly payments in June and December unless the County Guards of Education also asked for the quarterly payments.
