UNITED CFIURCH NOTES
Steven Gerstenkorn lit the
third Advent candle at the
White Gift service in Hensall
United Church on Sunday morn-
ing. The choir sang the anthem
"Hallelujah, " and Rev Don
Beck preached on the sermon
topic "Christmas 50 years
ago" and told the story "Once
upon a Christmas." Portions
of scripture from Matthew were
read by Jo-ann Pepper and
Vicki Mann. The baskets of
flowers were front the funerals
of Cornelius Faber and Earl
Soldan. Sunday evening a
Christmas carol service under
the guidance of the Hensall
Choir was held. Sunday, Dec-
ember 22 will be the Christmas
Sunday Service and December
24 will be the Christmas Eve
Communion Service,
EXCHANGE GIFTS
The members of Amber
Rebekah Lodge niet recently
with the Vice Grand, Mrs.
Bertha MacGregor acting as
Noble Grand in the absence of
:'rifh a,1 a 1:10
Noble Grand Mrs, Margaret
Consitt. Mrs. Beatrice Richard-
son assisted as Vice Grand,
A character cotnmittee was
appointed. The Vice Grand
reported for the visiting com-
mittee and Mrs. Dorothy Corb-
ett gave the treasurer's report.
"Thank -you" notes were receiv-
ed, also thanks for flowers
received by members, Arrange-
ments were made to drape the
Charter on December 18, The
C.P. & T. Committee held a
progressive euchre party in the
Lodge rooms December 12.
Following the meeting carol
singing was led by Mrs. Evelyn
McBeath at the piano, Mrs.
Irene Blackwell directed char-
ades and Mrs. Dorothy Parker
gave a reading entitled "A
Christmas Story." Gifts were
exchanged from the Christmas
tree and a social hour was enjoy
ed by all,
LADIES AUXILIARY
The December meeting of
the Hensall Ladies Legion Aux-
iliary was held December 3.
ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS
President Wanda McClinchey
presided. Past President, Mild-
red Chalmers installed Kathleen
Geiger as a new member. Plans
were finalized for the New
Years dance. The Auxiliary
and Legion members are spons-
oring a children's Christmas
party for members on Decemb-
er 22, Mildred Chalmers won
the mystery prize, and Wanda
McClinchey the guessing prize.
The money doll draw will be
held on December 21,
ST. PAUL'S A.C.W.
Prior to the regular meeting
of St. Paul's Anglican Church
Women, shut-in Christmas
boxes were packed at the rect-
ory. Thursday afternoon, Dec-
ember 12, the president Mrs.
Anderson opened the meeting
with a prayer. The minutes
were read and approved. The
study book +as given by Annie
Reid on "Settle thoughts before
evening." The officers for 1975
are the same as in 1974. Corr-
espondence was read and dealt
with. Mrs. Forest and Mrs.
Anderson read about the Eskimos
in the far north, It was decided
that the A,C,W, would send
a donation to the hunger relief
and the Missionary budget of
the church, Mrs. Anderson
closed the tweeting with a
poem.

IIOLD ENROLMENT
The members of the first
Hensall Gixl Guide Company
fell into formation, in full
uniform, marched into the
horseshoe formation and stood
at attention while three tender-
foot guides, Roxanne Lavery,
Karen Spiels, and Jo-ann
Pepper were officially enrolled
by their Guide leader, Mrs.
Eric Luther and her assistant,
Mrs. Arthur Slade,
After a quick exit, the Guides
r:.appeared, transformed into
candle -bearing angels, humble
shepherds, wisewten and the
Holy family to present an itup-
ressive play "The coating of
the King," narrated by Vicki
Mann. The choir of angels,
accompanied on the piano by
Mrs. Joyce Pepper, sang the
appropriate Christmas carols
as the play proceeded.
Mrs. E. Luther concluded the
program with an inspiring pray-
er in front of the Nativity
tableau. The Guides then grac-
iously and proudly served cof-
fee
offee and their own home baked
cookies to the mothers present.
A Christmas euchre was held
Wednesday evening in the
I-lensallLodge rooms. Sponsored
by the C.P. & T. committee,
eleven tables wercin play.

Increase
salaries

At a special tweeting held
in camera Wednesday night, the
Iluron-Perth County Roman
Catholic Separate School Board
increased the salaries of the
board office administrative
staff and are effective January
1, 1976.
Jack Lane, St. Columban,
Business Administrator, had
his salary increased to $20, 000
from $18.000.
Ed Rowland, R,R,1, Dublin,
Co-ordinator of Plant and Main-
tenance, had his salary increas-
ed $2, 000 as well bringing it
up to $12.500,
In the board office the sec-
retarial and clerical salaries
were adjusted as follows;
Accounting clerk to $134. per
week from $112; payroll clerl.
to $13G. fronts $110; secretary
to business administrator to $137
from $123; secretary to assist-
ant superintendent to $130
(position vacant at present
time); and executive secretary
to $136 from $110.
