were entertained last week by members of the South Huron

At noon on Sunday Decemb-
er 1, Constable Larry Christiaen
investigated a minor collision
in the parking lot at Our Lady
of Mount Cannel Church, Mount
Carmel, between vehicles oper-
ated by Jan McInnis, R.R.3,
Dashwood and Robert Vankerre-
Broek, R.R.2, Crediton. Dam-
age estimated at $250.
At 4:50 p.m. December 1,
Constable Bill Lewis investigat-
ed a collision on Highway 4
north of Exeter between vehicles
operated by Martin Wynja,
R.R.4, Seaforth and William
Rooseboom, R.R.3, Zurich.
The Wynja vehicle went out of
.control while passing;icy roads
were a contributing factor.
Damage estimated at $260.
Constable Ed Wilcox investig-
ated a collision at Highway 4
and Waterloo Street on Decem-
ber 5 at 11:45 a.m. A vehicle
operated by Gaetor Jacques,
R.R.2, Goderich struck a vehicle
operated by Larry Skinner, R.R.1
Centralia. Total damage $200.
Vehicles operated by Sidney
Scroggs, Brucefield and Joseph
Horst, Millbank collided at the
junction of Highway 83 and Con
road 2, Hay Township on Dec-
ember 6 at 7:20 a.m. Constable
Bill Glassford investigated estim-
ating damage at $1, 000.
The parking lot at Darling's
Clover Farm Huron Park was the
scene of a .minor collision at
6 p.m. December 6, investigat-
ed by Constable Bill Lewis. Invol-
ved were Lloyd Bowman, Huron
Park and Dorothy Marks, R, R.1,
Exeter. Damage estimated at
$85.
Constable Dale Lamont is inves-
tigating a hit and run in front
of the Dufferin Hotel, Centralia
just before midnight on Decemb-
er 6. A vehicle owned by Leon-
ard Roach, London was struck by
an unknown vehicle which fled
the scene. Damage estimated at
$150.
Constable Al Quinn investig-
ated a single vehicle collision
at 2:30 a.m. December 7 on
sideroad 20, Hay Township, A
vehicle operated by Michael Veal,
Hensall slid into some guide posts
and a tree. Damage estimated at
$500.
Constable Bill McIntyre invest-
igated a collision on Highway 23
south of Kirkton at 9 p.m. Dec-
ember 7, involving vehicles oper-
ated by Johanes Vanstrien, Lake-
side and William Morley, Grant-
' on. Damage estimated at $2500.
Ladies are reminded to secure
or keep their purses with them,
particularly at public functions,
as we are presently investigating
thefts of this nature.
At this time of year the only
Christmas spirit one should be
full of, is the kindness and good-
will variety.
Zurich Atoms
undefeated

The Zurich Atoms have play-
ed six regular season games this
year. They have won five game;
and tied one. Last Wednesday
they defeated Mitchell 7-1,
Mark Kirk banged in three goals
for the local team. Dean Arm-
strong, Brian Horner, George
Blackwell and John McAllister
picked up the others. Al Stacey
scored for Mitchell.
Friday they travelled to Bay-
field for a night game. It ended
a tie 8-8. Scoring for Zurich
ZurichFlyers win over Jura

On Sunday night the Zurich
Flyers skated to a convincing
7-2 victory over the Jura North
Stars to move into a tie for
first place in the South Huron
Hockey League.
The first period saw Zurich
take a three goal lead as Pat
Bedard, Glen Overholt and Ray
Weido each blinked the red
light. Ron Desjardine and Dick
Bedard, who played a strong
offensive game, assisted on all
three goals.
Zurich added two more in the
second stanza as Ron Rader displ-
ayed some fancy stick handling
and scored unassisted at 1:52.
Glen Overholt made his break-
away count as he scored his
second goal of the night at '
19:41.
Everyone was thinking shut-
out for Flyer goalie Glen
Gascho who played a steady
game, until Jim Brooks scored
twice for Jura, at 8:58 and
12:10. Ron Rader got his second
of the night at 13.44 from Pat
Bedard and Richard Fisher to
make the score 6-2.
The Flyer's final marker
came off the stick of playing
coach Bob Merner at 14:54 from
Bob Farquhar and Kevin Mc-
Kinnon.

foiled many of the Flyer sharp-
shooters as he stopped 58 of 65

New officers were chosen by
the Huron Country Playhouse
Board of Trustees at a meeting
recently.
Benson W. Tuckey, Exeter
who has served as president and
chairman for two years, was
named permanent honorary
chairman.
Bill Cochrane, Q.C., Goder-
ich became chairman; Don
Southcott, Grand Bend, vice-
chairman, Betty Etue, Goderich,
executive secretary; Nancy
Read, Grand Bend, was re-elect-
ed treasurer with Mrs. Bill
Schlegel, Grand Bend and Mrs.
Peter Ivey London as executive
members at large.
New members were added to
the Playhouse Board. They are
Len Evans, Sarnia; William
Shrier, Goderich; James Gibson,
London, Roger Martin, Exeter;
Bill Amos, Parkhill; Douglas
Cook, Hensall; Mrs. Robert
McKinley, Zurich and Mrs.
Lottie Roff, London.
Three new members were
added to the Honorary list of
Board members. They are Mrs.
Fred Walker, Grand Bend; The
Honorable William Stewart,
Denfield; and Mr. Bruce Sully,
Goderich.
Robert McKinley, Huron MP
informed the Huron Country
Playhouse that their application
for a $22, 000 L.I.P. grand had
been successful.
The project will undertake
to create a permanent theatre
facility at Grand Bend and will
emply eight workers for five
months.
The first phase of the project
will be concerned with dismantl-
ing several old barns in the area
for use in the permanent Play-
house building.
A group of interested persons
attended a special "Building"
meeting on Sunday, December
1, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Ivey at the Mill, Benmiller.
Present were Mr. and Mrs. Rog-
er Martin, Exeter; Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Amos, Parkhill.; Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Schlegel, Grand
Bend; Bill Cochrane, Q.C.
Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Mel
Gaiser, Exeter; Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Waters, Parkhill, Mrs.
Beecher Menzies, Clinton; Mr.
Bill Heinsohn, St. Thomas,
Mr. and Mrs. Benson Tuckey,
were Scott Armstrong with three,
Brian Horner added two more
goals, while Mark Kirk, David
Smith and Paul Johnston picked
up the others.
In future games the Atoms
take on a strong London team on
Sunday, December 15 at 1 p.m.
in the local arena. The follow-
ing Wednesday you can attend
an Atom home game with the
Clinton team for opposition.
Game time is 6:30 p.m.

NEW ARENA MANAGER
A native of Zurich, Jerry Rader
began duties this week as the
manager of the Zurich Arena
and Community Centre. An
avid sportsman, Mr. Rader has
many plans to improve the op-
eration of the recreational centre
and at the same time create
a better source of revenue for
the municipally owned building.
