INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE
Mrs. L.B. Smith visited for
a couple of days in London last
week with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Rowse and family. She was join-
ed on Friday by her sisters, Mrs.
George Reid of Varna and Mrs.
R.J. Larson, who enjoyed a days'
shopping and all returned home
Friday evening.
Best wishes to George D (Bud)
Talbot who is presently a pat-
ient in Clinton Public Hospital.
Mrs. Spinney Ervine spent
last week with her family, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Meyer, Mich-
elle and Marsha in Waterloo.
They returned with her on Fri-
day and remained for the week-
end.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Pollock
of London and Mr. Ernie Poll-
ock of Varna were weekend
guests of Mrs. Milton Pollock,
Goshen Line.
Joanne and Sheryl Layton of
Brucefield spent the weekend
with her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Albert. Craig. Mr. and
Mrs. Roger Layton and Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Craig joined them
for dinner on Sunday.
Mrs. Fletcher McLaughlin,
Meagan, Alfie and Courtney,
Toronto, were with her parents
Mx. and Mrs. Fred LeBeau for
the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Graham
spent the weekend in Woodstock
at the home of her sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Miller and
attended a Family Christmas
party on Saturday.
ANGLICAN CHURCH
The Board of Management
of Trinity Anglican Church
met Tuesday evening, Decemb-
er 3 in the Parish Hall and set
several dates for upcoming
church activities.
Sunday, December 15 will
be White Gift Sunday. You are
asked to please bring non per-
ishable items, such as canned
goods or packaged foods.
These articles will then be
given to the Children's Aid Soc-
iety for distribution to needy
families in Huron County. It
was noted that gifts of money
would also be gratefully accept-
ed. On Sunday December 22,
the Nine Lesson Carol Service
will be held at 10 a.rn. in Trin-
ity and January 16 was set as
the date for the Annual Vestry
Meeting in the parish hall. The
Rector, Rev. George Youmatoff
will be taking his annual vacat-
ion from January 19 for three
weeks. Harry Baker and Morgan
Srnith volunteered to act as the
nominating committee to bring
in a slate of officers for the Jan-
uary annual meeting.
The Christmas Creche donated
to the church by the sisters of
the late Mrs. Gertrude G. Gaird-
ner has been expertly repaired
by Mrs. Ed Oddleifson and will
be duly dedicated. Mrs. Oddleif-
son is to be highly commended
for the beautiful work she has
done in the restoration of the

reported that the Bishops Appeal
for funds for the North had rec-
eived a terrific and heart warm-
ing response and had been over
subscribed; that a carpenter is
to look at the front doors of the
church to see whether they can
be repaired or if they will need
replacing; received a letter
regarding the purchase of new
choir gowns and learned that

they could not be supplied in
blue as requested, so another
company will have to be app-
roached; and decided to move
the organ to the opposite side
of the church in order to accom-
modate another choir seat and
kneeling bench, and possibly
relocate the Lectern to the west
side.
Rev. George Youmatoff, of
Trinity Anglican Church, Bay-
field baptised two children at
the morning service on Sunday,
December 8. The babies were
Marsha Elizabeth, baby daught-
er of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Meyer of Waterloo, and Victor-
ia Pearl, infant daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Matthew Smith, of
Bayfield. Mr. and Mrs. Mike
DeFort of Waterloo were God-
parents for Marsha Elizabeth,
and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mullin
of Dresden were Victoria Pearl's
Godparents.
Following the church service,
the Meyer family retured to the
home of Marsha's maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Spinny Erv-
ine where Mrs. Muir of Rostock
great grandmother, Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Meyer, Milverton,
paternal grandparents, Brenda
and Karen Meyer the baby's
aunts and Don Roberts, of Mil-
verton and great-aunt Miss May
Ervine of Goderich along with
her godparents who had all
attended the service enjoyed a
delicious luncheon.

Kippen
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The Citizenship meeting of
Kippen East W.I. will be held
at the home of Mrs. Vern Ald-
erdice on December 18, at 8:30
p.rn. The roll call will be,
"A little thing in life that leads
to good citizenship." Mrs. Alex
McGregor will comment on the
motto, Mrs. Connolly will give
a poem and Mrs. McGregor will
give a demonstration. Mrs. J.
Sinclair is in charge of lunch anc

piece of Christmas cake.

Todd Caldwell has been hospit-
