Bruce Guy sat at tables decorated with lighted red candles for the regular meet- ing of Emmanuel United Church Women, chaired by Mrs. Leroy O'Brien. A sound -film strip "Star In the East" was used for the devotional period. Mrs. O'Brien presented the Mission topic, "Our changing Role in Mission, " using quotes from Dr. A. C. Forrest which showed that specialists or exp- erts in various sciences are the modern requirements in today's Mission fields. The offering was received and dedicated. Mrs. Delbert Geiger conducted a Bible quiz, which was won by Mrs. Menno Steckle. The Christmas Story was pres- ented in pageant form by mem- bers of the committee, - Mrs. Greb, narrator; Mrs. Breakey, Mrs. Rawlings, Mrs. J.W. Mem' er and Mrs. O'Brien actors. Christmas Carols were sung, and Mrs. O'Brien read a poem "Christmas Wishes." In the business meeting which followed, it was decided to give a donation of $100 to the Miss- ion and Service Fund of the Church, and to contribute to the 100th Anniversary project, "The Big Red Ox." The president requested ann- ual reports to be prepared by December 15. The meetins for January, February and March will be held at 2 o'clock in the afternoon of the regular meeting day. Christmas cheer boxes will be packed on December 19, in the church basement. Following the Mizpah Bened- iction, lunch was served and fellowship 'enjoyed. Last Monday a polling station was set up at the Home which gave the residents the opportun- ity to cast their ballots in the Municipal election. Filtns were shown on Monday evening, followed by refresh- ments. We are pleased to report that Mr. John Jones was able to ret- urn from the Hospital, but reg- ret that Mrs. Rebecca Clarke is now a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Horne held their regular month- ly meeting on Wednesday even- ing which took the form of the annual Christmas party as well as the December birthday party. The St. Boniface church choir provided the music for the evening. Residents having birthdays during the month of December were Mrs. Mabel Gosstnan, Miss Pearl Keys, Miss Mary Ann Steckle, Mrs. Dora Wag - horn and Mrs. Etta Young. They also received birthday gifts. Following the program, refreshments were enjoyed. The residents were very pleas- ed to have a lovely color T.V. installed in the west wing sitt- ing room which was presented to the Home on behalf of the Ladies Auxiliary. I am sure this would be a good time of the year to express our appreciation to the members of the Auxiliary for their assistance and comforts they provide the residents and Home with throughout the year. We would also like to thank Mrs. Jennetta Finnigan, a res- ident here, for presenting a beautiful large mirror for the use of the ladies in the west wing. On Friday afternoon Mrs. Lenora Turkheim provided the residents with organ music in the chapel, also joined her in singing Christmas carols. Bingo was enjoyed Friday evening, followed by refresh- ments. The Sunday evening chapel service was conducted by Rev. Clayton Kuepfer, of the Zurich Mennonite Church. The Sel- wood Choir from Toronto, visit- ing the area, provided special music during the service.
