UNITED CHURCH NOTES
Members of the Hensall>
Legion and Legion Ladies
Auxiliary and the Girl Guides
were guests at the Hensall
United Church for the service
of Remembrance, Sunday morn-
ing. Rev. Don Beck preached
on the sermon topic "To begin
again, " and the choir sang the
anthem "Soldiers of Christ
Arise." Next Sunday will be a
worship in song service, featur-
ing the McMillan Family of
Goderich, and the Hensall
choir. Coffee and fellowship
will follow after the service.
Richard Gittus of Bridgeton,
Missouri, visited last week
with hisparents Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Gittus.
Mrs. Laird Mickle entertain-
ed her family to a smorgasbord
dinner Sunday and all the
members were able to be pres-
ent. Mr. and Mrs. William
Mickle, Pamela, Judith and
John; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mac-
Millan, David, Tommy and
Ann, of Waterloo; Charles
Mickle, Hamilton; Dr. and
Mrs. Robert Mickle, London;
Mr. and Mrs. Brian Collins,
of Kitchener, and sister Mrs.
Florence Joynt.
W.M.S HOLD MEETING
Mrs. Harvey Hyde presided
for the W.M.S. meeting of
Carmel Presbyterian Church
recently and opened the meet-
ing with "Thoughts on Novem-
ber." Mrs. John Soldan and
Mrs. Ruby Hoggarth were in
charge of the meditation
"Remembrance and Thankful-
ness." Mrs. Hyde gave a det-
ailed report of the Presbyterial
held in Goderich. The nomin-
ating committee was appoint-
ed to bring the slate of officers
for the December meeting.
Mrs. Clarence Volland presid-
ed for the Ladies Aid meeting
which followed and reported a
most successful bake sale and
bazaar which was held recently,
Arrangements were made to
cater to a wedding on Decemb-
er 21.
UNIT IV
Unit IV of Hensall United
Church Women met on Novem-
ber 7 with twenty-eight pres-
ent. Mrs. McAllister opened
the meeting with a poem "On
the wings of prayer." Hymn
550 was sung and Mrs. Albert
Alexander gave the devotional,
the theme of which was "God is
our refuge and our strength, "
from the .16th psahrr. This was
followed by prayer. Mrs. Eric
Luther sang "In the Garden, "
with Mrs. Tour Sherritt acc-
ompanying.
Mrs. McAllister took for her
topic, "The General Church
Council" held in Guelph, when
the first black roan became
Moderator of the United Church
Rev. Wilbur Iloward will serve
three years instead of the usual
two.
Thank you notes were read
from Mrs. Polly Madurtrie,
Mrs. Alma Hess and Mr. and
Mrs. E. Chipchase. The offer-
ing was tal<en by the hostess
Ivirs. Roobal and Mrs. E. Rowe
and Mrs. Eric Luther conducted
the election of officers, which
are as follows; leader, Mrs.
James McAllister; assistant
leader, Mrs. R. Erratt; secret-
aries Ivirs. II. Caldwell, Mrs.
J. Flynn; treasurers, Mrs. Tom.
Sherritt, Mrs. George Arinsrronl
Social functions, Mrs, E. Rowe;
pianists, Mrs. Laird Mickle,
Mrs. Torn Sherritt, Hytrin 651
was sung and the benediction
pronounced by Mrs. McAllister.
Lunch was served by the
committee in charge.
ANGLICAN CHURCH
The Rev. G.A. Anderson
was in charge of the evening
service Sunday evening at St.
Paul's Anglican Church. The
text of the sermon was "The
Woman of Samaria." The
church trio led in the singing
of the hymns. Mrs. Betty Smith
of Iluron Park sang two solos,
"There is above all others"
and "I found a Friend."
Obituary
CHARLES W. MILLER
A resident of lluronview,
Charles W. Miller passed away
there on Monday, November
11, in his 89th year. Ile was the
husband of the late Hattie Ing-
ram Dougall.
Surviving is one daughter,
Mrs. David (Lillie) Blackwell,
R.R•2, Ilensall; three sons,
James, of Exeter; Everard, of
Grand Bend; and Edwin, of Exe-
ter; and one brother, Fred Mill-
er, of Brampton. Also surviving
are hi grandchildren and 15
great grandchildren.
The body is resting at the
R.C. Dinney Funeral home,
Exeter, where the service will
take place on Thursday, Nov-
ember 14, at 2 p.m. with Rev.
Glen Wright officiating. Inter-
ment will he made in the Exeter
Cemetery.

Wheat sales
Sales of new crop Ontario
winter wheat by producers
since July to the first of Nov-
ember total 16.2 rniilion bush-
els, which has been purchased
by the Ontario Wheat Producers'
Marketing Board.
Figures released by the mark-
eting board on Friday, Novem-
ber 8 indicate that of the vol-
ume purchased to date resale
has been made by the board to
the following markets;
Approximately 5.3 million
bushels have been sold to dom-
estic flour millers; 164, 800
bushels to domestic seed deal-
ers; 10, 200 bushels to dornestic
feed dealers; and 2.5 million
bushels for export.
Present board inventory
totals approximately eight
million bushels, of which
about seven million bushels
has been committed for export
sales.
