HARVEY HOHNER Secretary -P teachers at Sylvan n A group of 15 teachers from the Huron -Perth Separate School System attended Camp Sylvan on Monday, October 21 for a two - county professional development day. Groups of teachers were also attending workshops aux t1 e metric system, language ,arts, and arts and crafts, in Seaforth, Dublin, and St. Columban, The teachers at Sylvan studied outdoor education, with assistance from Jim Melady, a consultant from the Bryce -Grey Separate School Board, Roger Martin from the Ausable Con- servation Authority and Dave Zyluk, course co-ordinator. They studied pond life, orienteering, forestry, participated in a cemetery study, and went on a nature hike. The objectives of the course were, to introduce teachers to a wide range of topics, showing them that outdoor .education is ,not just an extension of science but of all subject areas; and how to prepare for, and extend upon a day outdoors. JOSEPH WRAGG St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich, was the setting for the October 18 wedding of Doris Doreen and Joseph lJragg. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Webb, R.R.2, Dashwood and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wragg, of Exeter. Rev. A.C. Blackwell officiated. Mrs. Anne Schade, of Dashwood, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Marjorie Green, of Huron Park, and Cathy Hayes, of Toronto. Karen Schade, of Dashwood, niece of the bride was flowergirl. Best man was Greg Wragg, of Exeter, brother of the groom and guests were ushered by Murray Glanville and Doug Miners, both of Exeter. Anne Marie Hoffman, of Dashwood was soloist and Christine Haberer was organist. The young couple will reside in Exeter. Obituary SOLOMON JOSEPH BECHARD A prominent resident of this area for some years, Solomon J. Bechard of Zurich, passed away in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Saturday, October 26, in his 72nd year. He was born in the Windsor area on March 5, 1903, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Bechard. Mr. and Mrs. Bechard moved to this area some years ago from Windsor, and opened the Bay- view Tavern on highway 21, south of St. Joseph. A couple of years ago they sold the est- ablishment and retired to Zur- ich. Mrs. Bechard is the former Blanche Marie Jeffrey. Mr. Bechard was the father of Mrs. Dave (Pearl) Hubbard, New Baltimore, Michigan; Mrs. Allen (Olivia) Lapham, New Baltimore, Mich, Mrs. Sally Bechard, Mt. Clemens, Mich., Gloria, New Baltimore, Mich. The body rested at the West- lake Funeral Home, Zurich, until Tuesday morning, when funeral mass took place at St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, Zurich, with Father A. Durand officiating, Inter- ment was made in the.adjoin- ing cemetery. Pallbearers were Avila Duch- arrne, Dominic Jeffrey, Charles Sreenan, Leroy Thiel, Dennis Charrette and Prosper VanBru- aene.
